I’ll be using a iPad to look at gps hunting maps as well as a monitor for my scanner! I’m looking at options and would appreciate any lessons learned you have acquired mounting your tablets! Thanks folks!! David

I've got a couple different setups in 2 machines. I also have the bar clamp for the ram mount like the guy above. Just in case I wanna run with the tablet In my line of sight when I'm by myself. I also ran the spring mount like he has above. I switch to the arkon mount because I slung my 8 inch tablet out of the spring loaded mount a couple of times. But that was really extreme trails and hitting obstacles harder than I probably should have. I broke a ball on a ram mount If that tells you anything. The ram mounts in my dash have a metal backing instead of just the screws through the plastic.

My tablet stays put with the Otterbox Defender case on it. It wedges into the mount.

I guess I should mention that I’m also planning on adding two fan units in the under roof ceiling area! This is a constraint that I need to consider making plans on the tablet mount. At the moment I’m considering having a cage mount to locale the tablet just below the rear view mirror! Thanks for the input guys!!

Mine had a case also. I'm talking extreme conditions when it came out. I gave the holder to my buddy and he has never had the same tablet set up come out but he doesn't ride the really rough trails.

I mounted an IPad in the center of my upper roll cage using Ram mount components. It has worked well. Also used those components to mount a pair of Schumacher trucker fans in front corners of the roll cage. I'd post some pictures, but I'm on the road and wont be back home to the shop until mid September.

I found using the 1-1/2" C size ram mounts for the Ipad were much more stable than the 1" B size. Of course they are more money, but that kind of fits right in with Honda SxS obsession anyway......

Mine is in a otterbox also. Works great and protects the tablet really well.

You guys using otterboxes - how are you mounting them to the RAM mounts? I would like a better case than the soft-style one I'm running.

I use the mount that I listed above. The Defender case squeezes into it. I also hot glued all of the openings not covered by a rubber flap.

Ram Mount Flex Adhesive Base with.

I've been thinking that RAM needs to come out with an adhesive base, didn't know that one was out...

I'd like to see a much larger adhesive base, though - something rectangular in phone or tablet size. I'd be worried about that 2.5" base coming undone over time.

I cleaned with alcohol and it stuck really well. So far so good.

I have an old 8" Samsung tablet we had kicking around that is in a rugged type case and just put 2 one inch velcro on the back of the case and on the large warning label in the center of the dash so that either driver or passenger can use the map software to look at trails or other information. Also 2 strips of velcro covering that warning label. The 8" tablet fits perfectly in that spot.

Its also a short cable from the center of the dash to the 12 volt socket below it on the dash.

My case does NOT cover the glass of the tablet.

I know a lot of people remove that warning and put switches and gauges in that location but we opted for our dash mount for the tablet. I applied the velcro in summer 2017 and it has not come off either the dash or the tablet case in that time.
