P500 Let’s Talk Winches

Torq Locker arrived on Saturday. Excited to get it installed this week. (Someone else not me, I am a bean counter not a wrench turner.) Next on my upgrade list is front bumper and winch. Settled on a StrongMade bumper for the high winch mounting point and as I am not a fan of the tube style ones. Now to get the winch, top choice as of right now is the KFI Stealth 4500. Is that overkill? Anyone running something different?

I'm running the KFI Stealth 3500 and it's been a great winch. Replaced the rope once in 5 yrs but I plow with it too.

I have a SuperWinch Terra 45 on my P1000-5, and I have a new Terra 45 waiting on my P520 when it’s delivered. The Terra 45 has been awesome.

KFI has metal gears, and every part can be ordered and replaced. Good winches....

I bought the KFI 4500# winch. I was going to buy the KFI 3500# winch and a separate corded remote controller. But the 4500# winch includes the corded remote for the same price as the 3500# and a separate corded remote. The remote is overpriced for what it is.

KFI has metal gears, and every part can be ordered and replaced. Good winches....

Exactly, metal gears and the ability to repair if damaged were big contributing factors. Reviews on KFI are great.

I have noticed that. The winch on our last SXS had the remote, while we never used it I still feel it is one of those items I would rather have and not need.. than need and not have.

I have the Stealth 3500 and it came with the corded remote. Some recommended a wireless remote but I don't use the corded one that much to warrant buying one. Have also heard of problems that it drains your battery. FWIW

Hmmm...my dealership told me it wasn't included with 3500 but was with 4500. I guess the joke is on me. Oh well...

Yeah I ordered the whole thing directly from KFI. Winch, mount, plow...everything. About a grand total.

That was another concern, my riding will be more solo going forward. Having the remote will be extremely helpful in those situations.

Don’t know if it will fit. But the warn axon 35 with the optional hub harness looks cool. You can run your winch from your smart phone!

I picked up the Harbor Freight 5000 - open box 130$-I'd still buy it for the regular $259.00 price though-like the extra pull over the 2500 I started with. BTW-never did hurt the 2500-still pulling strong.

I also have the H F 5000. Find a big limb after you wash the p500 and hang it up to dry! Great for pulling out the rubber band toys out 😂

Super Winch Terra 45S. Did some extensive research when I bough my P5 in 2014, turned out the Super Winch Terra 45 at the time uses less amps then most other winches including the Terra 35. Have used both extensively (35 & 45) Terra 45s (synthetic) is on my P5 with KFI mount and 66” plough. Works awesome. I’d recommend whichever way you go get Synthetic line over steel.
