I have this and it has really helped on 2 rides. It took me quite a while to get it somewhat figured out.

Question:

Is there any way to download an entire state?

This catching between a couple of area maps is really frustrating.

This catching between a couple of area maps is really frustrating.

Yes. Connect your Lifetime device to wifi.
After connected to the internet, open the Lifetime trail maps app. Then follow these screenshots.

Click on the map icon in upper right, the following screen will pop up. Click on the circled area and click switch maps.

Then the below screen opens up. Click on download new, and download the maps you want. Once done close the app and restart it, the new maps will show up in the list to choose from.

If you are not running version 1.06 of the Lifetime trail maps application you may not see the "download new" option.

If your app is outdated, you can contact them on Facebook messenger, there is an initial auto response that deals with the 6 most common issues. One of them is a link to download the current version of Lifetime trail maps app.

Can you overlay an established map, say RRB, over that or just switch back and forth if needed?

You literally just switch maps back and forth and trails overlay stays put. Takes maybe 3 seconds to switch.
