I just ordered my rims for my PK1 -3 not lifting or changing suspension. Want to get the light truck tires shown above. I ordered the rims mentioned in the above post. Besides spacers for back wheels and new lug nuts. what size tires do i need and anything else to keep bike stock settings?

Alright guys, got them on this weekend. Didn't get to do a ton of driving but did get a chance to take them down the road. First impressions are as follows :
-Road noise from tires was almost non-existent, which was a big change from the factory Maxxis Bighorns.
-As others have said, definitely took a little more brake to stop, but did not seem excessive.
-Overall I did not feel a large change in power although it did seem noticeable that the wheels and tires were heavier.
-Ride seemed smoother all-together although I did notice I was able to feel the speed bumps on the road I was driving on a little more.

For now tires are set at 14psi- may go to 12 but wanted to do a little more driving first. Tires were close to 29" tall initially, but after deflating they settled down closer to 28". Going to do my best to measure toe and camber and adjust if necessary at a later date.

*Side note: I've looked around the forum and haven't had much luck finding a tutorial for adjusting toe and camber- could anyone help me out there?

I took mine to a local tire shop and had it machine aligned. Judging from the wear pattern, the tech nailed it.

Wow that is a great deal on wheels. The only thing to watch out for is the load rating is a little lower than I would like @ 573-727 lbs. other than that it is a heck of a deal, congrats on your new rims, they do look sharp!

I'm running those wheels and these tires https://amazon.com/gp/product/B07NGJRFBZ/?tag=sxsweb24-20 I had them machine balanced and they don't shake at all at any speed. Very quiet and are wearing well.

Somewhere on this forum someone posted using a 2x4 or a pair of 2x4s to set the toe. The 2x4 will need to be at least 8 feet long to work correctly. You will be setting the toe using the 2x4 as a guide. Center your steering wheel and put the 2x4 squarely and firmly against your back tire and front tire. Use the 2x4 as a guide to align the front tire. You will want the 2x4 to stick out a few inches past the front of the front tire. This will help you eyeball the toe in or out better. A pair of 2x4 will work best so that you can eyeball overall toe and alignment on both front wheels after adjustments. I believe I left my front wheels toed in about 1/16 or 1/8 of an inch. My tires are showing even wear. My tires see about 50/50 highway vs dirt/orchard riding.

It's not scientific, but should get your close. I also had my tires mounted and balanced at a local shop and ride very smooth with no shake.

I emailed Quadboss before buying my wheels and asked about the load ratings since they are lower than most other wheels. I provided the item number and size I was planning to order when emailing them. The response I received stated that the 15x7s are rated on the higher end at 727lbs. The rep from Quadboss went on to say that the P1k3 weighs 15xxlbs. (he quoted the exact weight from Honda) and that the wheels at 727x4=2908lbs is more than enough to cover the weight of the P1k3. I'm not sure if that is how the load ratings work, but it was enough for me to take a chance. I would think it is based on curb weight, but I don't know. As I stated previously, mine is being used as a glorified golf cart. I'm not particularly worried about the load rating or lack of bead lock.

I also saw several Polaris Rangers running these same Quadboss wheels or other styles from their line with the same load ratings. I was just searching other machines similar in size to ours and Quadboss lurking on their forums.

I can post the email if anyone is interested.

I'm guessing you ordered the 15x7 rims? If so you can run the 235/75r15 tires. That tire translates to a 29x9 on a truck or aired down for our buggies about 28x9 depending on air pressure. This is the most widely available 15 inch tire size. It's also the largest you can run without a lift. You should be able to find several options in mud terrain or all terrain. There is also the 215/75r15. It's about 27x8 on a truck or 26x8 on our buggies. You will likely only find that size in all terrain.

Honestly, I'm very pleased with my 235/75r15s. That size is more available and cheaper than the 215/75r15. Based on pictures posted on this forum, the 235/75r15 is probably what 95% of the guys running truck tires are using. I also wouldn't worry much about the brand of the tire. I would shop by price and looks (tread pattern and sidewall) in that order. Our buggies weigh a quarter of the weight these tires are made to carry, so they will perform beyond what we require. I almost ordered the discontinued, previous generation BFG Mud Terrains, but I just didn't think it was worth it. Same with the Maxxis DOT radials available. I was also trying to keep the total cost of wheels, tires, lugs, spacers, etc to $500ish.

I would stick with a mud terrain unless, like the other guy in this thread, you plan to run two sets of the wheels and tires. Like, get a set of pure ATV mud tires and set of all terrain truck tires for summer or something. The mud terrain is like an all terrain for our buggies.

I'm running 9psi in the front and 11psi in the rear.

Tires I considered: Federal Couragia MT, Forceum M/T 08 (consistently the cheapest, but with good reviews), Accura something, and some others I can't recall (look back to my posts at the beginning of this thread). I ended up getting the Centennial Dirt Commander MT. Based my decision on price, look of the tread and sidewall, and reviews I read about that tire. I think it ended up being $85 a tire from SimpleTire after a coupon for first time buyers.

Check eBay (has just about every random brand of tires available), Amazon, SimpleTire, or just Google 235 75 r15. You should find a few other online tire stores. Just check reviews, shipping arrangements (some only want to ship to specific installers), and other details.

Has anyone noticed their buggy shifting different with the different tires? I went up a few sizes and it doesn't shift soon enough now. Feels like it over revs in each gear.

Should just depend on how hard you are pushing it, mine will shift at 3000 if just cruising

I should mention I have a p700. BF Goodrich Mud terrains. Shifts great manually, just seems like tire size difference has thrown the shift points off.

I don't know how many responses you're gonna find on this thread- looks like they have it marked p1000 specific.

Not that you can't ask lol just might not be too many 700ers browsing this thread. I know I never look at 500/700 threads.

Up-date on my light truck tires, I have the 2019 1000 LE. Here in Costa Rica you can drive everywhere with this so hard paved roads, dirt and stone, Jungle, sand, water crossings everything. With the ATV tires I can only get 4,000 miles out of a set, this is my 3rd Pioneer, so I wanted to try the truck tires, glad that I made the switch. I got Quad Boss rims 15X7 5/2 4-137. I brought them back in a suitcase from a visit to the USA. That was a story for another time. Tire choices are good but with the all types of conditions I just chose what I think will work the best for my use, if I can't get through with this tire maybe I should not go. I have never turned around yet. The tire is 235/75X15, it's 28.5 tall The weight was something I was looking at, stock tire and rim as I took them off, front 37.2 lbs, rear 47.2 lbs and the new rims and tires are 51.4 all 4 are the same. No effect noticed about the weight, much quieter and very smooth. Started off with air at 20 but you could tell if a dime was heads or tales, I am now at 11psi and all is good. The steering feels like it wants to always be centered, I will check the toe in and out next. For my conditions this is a no brainer, the ATV tires here range from $180 to $250 each and the truck tires were $79 each expecting
a lot more miles from this tire. I have no rubbing or touching anything in full lock turns, also no spacers in the rear. If you look careful you can see that the rear is just a wee bit narrower but that keeps the mud more inside the wheel wells, I like that better.Upload 2019 8 15 9 15 8
