Has anyone used one of the Torqmasters Torq Locker for the Honda P500 ?

I would like to hear about your experiences with it ,what you think about its Performance and Durability and its Pros and Cons in your opinion.

Does its use Void the Factory Warranty on a New Machine ?

Thanks

That could be debatable, there’s many stories of some dealerships claiming that a owner has voided their warranty with one modification or another leaving the owner with a conflict with varying outcomes. Personally however, I wouldn’t let it prevent me from any mod I wanted to do. I have four honda SXS’s and have never needed to invoke my warranty for anything on any of them anyway….

Just be aware that steering will be stiffer and will have sticking spots that are real stiff until the next ratchet click. You may want to consider power steering next.

In a word, yes.

The Torq Locker has a few bad habits - even in 2wd the diff will lock occationaly.
But the improvment in traction is worth it.
For trail riding it's the bomb.

A couple more questions if you don't mind.
Has the Torq Locker been damaged in any way during this time, had to be returned for a different one or be worked on ?
Has it damaged anything on your pioneer ?

What did the company say was the reason that it was occasionally locking in 2wd?

@Bcraig it's the nature of the beast.
The Torq Locker functions by spitting a center dog clutch.
Any load to the drive pin will lock the diff.
Arrows below show the notch the pin fits in:

1627298680389

So any friction from the pinon gear bearing or oil seal drag will tend to engage the lock.
Most the time it's a non issue.

I put the trash out this morning, had the P500 parked sideways in the barn door because I have a project blocking my usual pull in spot.
It took 5 or 6 times back and forth to get the nose pointed out.
In that the diff locked twice.
It seams to be worse on hard pavement (where it is most noticeable).

As for problems, I expect the wear and tear on the front axles will be higher.
If it tears up any front drive line items I will fix it myself - no concern for warranty (it's expired anyway).
Edit: I assume the Torq Locker will void the warranty on the entire drive line, but I am no expert on warranty repairs as I have never had to use it. I'm not the guy to ask about about warranty stuff.

I have some experience with chassis related parts and I don't consider any of this to be abnormal for this type of system.
I did not see a need to contact the manufacture.
The system operates as per my expectations, the lock function locks when needed, and unlocks most the time (in 2WD).
Apart from that it's the only game in town.
Over all I would do this again if I had to do it over.

Thank you for the pics and taking the time to explain some things to me.
Your experience with these things and overall take on the Torq Locker is appreciated.
