Clearance priced MTX radio pod fits better than expected on P500. Single supplied bracket clamps the front ROPS, using supplied rubber pads between ROPS and OEM roof. No DIY brackets needed, but did shift the center OEM roof bracket so the radio would be centered. Removed old worn out radio from Chooglin glove box. 6.5 marine speakers, 1.5 tweeters, LED dome light, AM/FM, Bluetooth, Aux plug and usb charging cable in phone “glovebox”. Warning- it does say Polaris on it. LOL.

I googled the part number and an amazon seller had them for $199 and free shipping. So of course, I ordered one

This plug and play is my speed as not having the @trigger expertise! Undecided on Takeover, wife has some trips planned now that she finally joined me in retirement, maybe long distance grand daughter visit. But ya never know, now that the P500 has all the last year “lessons learned” upgrades done.

Even had the same power plugs as the honda accessory sub harness. Set the rear then push up the front. Holds in place itself while you put front bolts in. Power cables long enough to reach sub harness. Plugged in just a car antenna cable and got even better reception (cable left over from my antenna spider web sticks).

Something to be said for ease of installation and less connections. Having a ton of components and wiring sounds great until something goes wrong. Tracking down the problem can make it not worth it sometimes.

In my excitement, I missed the part about how you attached this using the hard roof. I have the soft top, so I’m going to have to figure something different out for the rear mount. I hope I can make a bracket that will allow the unit to hang below the rear crossbar. Also hoping that I will have enough clearance under it so that heads don’t hit the thing... the soft top follows the contour of the rops so I think it would look funny with a hump in the middle from being stretched over this stereo

@ehart814 , It has 3 bracket points with 2 threaded holes each. The single front Bracket on ROPs no problem. My take is that the 2 middle anchor points could work with an aluminum flat bar found at big box stores to cross over to both ROPS sides with drop. This picture is resting on top of rear ROPS. Sure you will figure it out, doable.
Seat mount would have been nice with accesory plug, but a bit wide for two riders.

Are there any outputs on this unit to connect additional speakers? Can’t find much online about it.

Nice. So now @trigger any advice on a simple, economical powered sub I could hook up to this thing once I get it?

The easiest route to go and smallest form would be a shallow mount powered sub. Roc had one in his mounted up in the roof area, I believe it was a Sound Storm. I have a Kicker Hideaway in one of the vehicles and it does okay. I have an 8" tube sub sitting on the shelf that's 150 watts rms but I don't know where you'd put it, pretty big, I had it in the tool box.

Repurposed an old cracked Cell phone, loaded up with songs for use in the P500 and ACE. Stays BT connected on radio upon power up and using supplied USB pigtail for charging. Plugged in just the car antenna plug/coax left over from the spider stick car antennas and much better radio signals. Glad I never throw old stuff away x2. Wired radios for full time power, parked nearby in the field for tunes while I cut a tree down today.

Got my radio installed this morning. It’s awesome! I drilled holes in the passenger side rops and ran the wires down inside of it. I wired the red and black wires to the winch contractor terminals and spliced a male bullet connector on the orange wire and connected it to an unused female on the Honda accessory pigtail. Super easy! The radio turns on when u turn the key on just like it does in your car.

It does work well with a soft top. There is just a slight bulge where the rear of the radio extends slightly over the rear horizontal bar. I used the included foam pads to stick on that bar so the radio rests on them. Readjusted the soft top so it fits snug over the rear of the radio and holds it down.

Turned out to be a very clean install! I’ll take pics sometime. Anyone looking for cheap and easy tunes for their 500 needs to buy this mtx unit!

Thanks mudder!

Touching it a little bit but not terrible, how's it sound?

The sound quality is very good. It seems like it will be plenty loud. I don’t think I can really expect to get much bass out of it but that’s ok.

I haven’t driven it since the install. It’s all cleaned up and I don’t want to get road salt on it. I am so fed up with winter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Presumably this could just as easily be installed in a 700 or 1000......???
