Thats sounds like a good idea to go through the wheels I may try this.
I just picked up some 36" axle straps from Amozon. 4bd85a1a288739dd1ada93fa1f5f66a2

I think sometimes, really! That going up high in the wheel spokes would give you better leverage.
I put them as close to level to the anchor points. I do not leave the machine in gear( dont want the gearbox jerking back and forth) But set the emergency break.

Yep, bought a 14 in Feb 15, was a great truck, until a stupid kid with bald tires on a wet road hit me broad side head on, 12 air bags went off, big stink, expect respiratory issues for a day or two after air bags go off. Better than being dead. Man would that truck get down the road w/ trailer and S X S! Bought a 2017 Tundra, it's a throw back to the old trucks, gas milage stinks, 14.5 MPG, but it only drops 1/10 while pulling a load. And is rated at 11,000 LBS towing? Z71 would lose 4 MGM while towing and if I remember right 8500 towing. You have a very safe truck, hope you never need to find out!

That is much better, keep the suspension compressed And at better angles.Tou don't want to have the machine bouncing around from road bumps.Thats what the trailer springs are for.
I thought that was what wives are for, telling us we are driving to fast, my trailer never bounces when my wife is with me, HA!

I like it for everyday use. I have towed my SXS before and it is respectable. I have a 13 GMC 2500 D-Max for towing.

There's no where to mount a clevis on a stock bumper... that I can see. But I DID buy the 1/2" shackles (in hopes to add some type "end" on my GIGANTIC 3/8 tow chains... didn't work.)
That's what these are for.. mounting a clevis. Just drill two holes in the bumper and mount. Same concept as the d-rings I used on my bumper.. only these allow for a clevis to be put thru them.
You're going to have to bring these giant chains with you. I'm pretty sure I'm using the same size. I bought 10 foot of chain and used the hooks from mine and dads winch and then I bought two larger hooks to fit over the rear trailer tie loops.
