Here’s a pic of my mileage at some point this week. It settles at 8.8 when running 72-74. It’s been over 10 on the short runs to the rides this week due to the lower speeds.

Not bad mileage for a lifted truck on 34” 10 ply tires. I’m loaded in the bed with luggage and three coolers. 4 people in the cab. The trailer has gas cans, axles, tires, etc. plus the trailer is 8.5’ wide and 9.5’ tall. Trailer base weight is 3000lbs before I added the large optima battery, winch, E-track, and spare tire.

On the interstate it’s constantly under boost, usually around 6-8psi. Coolant stays at 210-216 and trans temp hasn’t crossed 200 yet. When I need to pass something, I can get to 90 PDQ considering the load.

Here's my milage and mpg for the month of March. This milage is towing 14 different RVs , all different lengths and weight. Approximately 2/3 of this milage is towing. All over the western states. I'm a self employed independent contractor and use the truck commercially and I'm very happy with the performance and reliability of the Ram . Not arguing what truck is best, just stating what works for me.

Very true. Toyota ranks top in the 2019 consumer reports again. F150 is close and ram and GM hold up the rear with titan.

I like the tundra but they’re a little behind in several areas, just not reliability. It was a killer truck when it released but it’s due an update.
The cab room in the tundra was awesome! I almost bought one actually... then I stopped by the ford dealership saw the room in the crew cab and drove the eb... that did it!!

Keep your unfair advantage out of the 1/2 ton thread and go to the REAL truck thread! Is wannabes are happy with our toy trucks

Lol... it’s like these mass HP machines in the woods... there’s a point where more is just pointless. I’m of the mindset that if I were to get a diesel for pulling I’d go the western hauler route like @Kilo427. But again, I’m not pulling that often or that heavy. It wouldn't be a daily driver so it would just sit most of the time and that’s no bueno.
I learned quickly with the Wolverine that power isn’t everything in the woods. You’re right. Now if I got a Talon I may open up the California restrictions a little but you’ll NEVER see me with a turboed one.

What’s your average speed? That’s my mpg killer... 85 stay alive!

And if I were doing what you do.. I’d be driving the same thing you are! Only faster with fewer mpg!

Only one year since it first came out did it drop to second. That’s why it’s the longest kept and best resale truck. Many want to argue that. Best truck I believe but not my flavor till they update. Happy enough with my truck. If Toyota built a Sxs it may be sitting in my garage within a few years.

That includes idle time. Idle time will reduce your mpg and average speed. Sometimes I idle overnight depending on the weather. If I really averaged 51 mph I would be at 24mpg. Your missing the point that out here I’m constantly driving over mountains towing and still average 19.4 mpg.

No, I get it... it just doesn’t make sense when I only pull 1-2k miles a year.

Lol.. well that’s a first for this thread!
Have to get the one that suits your individual needs the best. I’ve owned Rams, Chevy, and Toyota. Have had good luck with all. Still own a 07 Chevy 1/2 ton that my oldest son drives. Has 200k on it and still runs great.

It’ll do everything I NEED it to and will ride better doing it! I don’t need to tow a 30ft toyhauler, so why buy a truck that will ride like s*** when I’m primarily NOT towing? Did you not pay more for Fox shocks to improve the ride of your sxs? Would you pay more to get the factory ride back? No! Why would I want a diesel for everyday driving when I’m not hauling anything? Even if the prices of mine and yours are the same and even if they were similar equipped.. yours will cost more to run than mine.

And ps... you’re a cocksuck because you KNOW I cant stop now!
Did you and dave procreate. Hahaha. A couple bucks dont matter much but a diesel is better.... youll burn up that little v6
