New Yamaha Sport 3 cylinder SxS?

So I haven't seen anyone comment on the third Yamaha teaser video let out yesterday, gotta slow mo it but definitely show three header pipes coming out of the head assembly. Triple cylinder it is!

I haven't a clue. I do see header differences but not familiar enough with Yamaha engines to know.

I agree now that you mention it.
Header tubes are different lengths from exhaust ports to the bend. The ports are at different angles and have the header bolts in different positions. Also the round "thing" above the center port on the full motor is missing on the screen cap.

I believe it is the Yamaha Genesis 4 stroke series this is awfully close here:

This engine is 130 HP using triple 41mm throttle bodies just a hair over 1000cc.Yamaha could easily knock 15cc per cylinder off to be 999cc

It is still different, but it could be based on that motor. They would have to make changes to it to make it work with in a sxs so the head might end up looking different.

The interesting thing about the Genesis motor is that it was originally basically just three cylinders of the four cylinder FJR 1300 motorcycle engine. Another interesting thing is that the FJR 1300 is available with a 5 speed electronically controlled and shifted transmission and clutch.
Supposedly the new sporty has a paddle shifted transmission. Convenient.
Just speculation, but.

There ya have it the YXZ. Looks pretty cool gotta say. Always was a Yamaha fan. Had a raptor 700r thing flat ripped in the dunes. The fenders on that look very similar.

Based upon patent drawings posted to another forum, it does appear to have a truly manual 5 speed.
