I was wondering if you are supposed to change the 2 rubber o rings in the oil filter casing on honda pioneer 500 every oil change, or can you go longer. Thanks.
I've never changed the o-rings out, just inspect them and reinstall them lubricating with oil when reinstalling the covers, that's been 5 years now. Just inspect for oil leaks as always. I do replace the crush washers on the drain plugs though every time.I was wondering if you are supposed to change the 2 rubber o rings in the oil filter casing on honda pioneer 500 every oil change, or can you go longer. Ok thanks for the response. I was going to reuse the crush washers, however, I believe you convinced me otherwise.I've never changed the o-rings out, just inspect them and reinstall them lubricating with oil when reinstalling the covers, that's been 5 years now. The crush washers keep you from stripping the threads out of the oil pan by letting you know when enough is enough.Ok thanks for the response. I was going to reuse the crush washers, however, I believe you convinced me otherwise.
So you can hear it or feel the washer crush literally? The crush washers keep you from stripping the threads out of the oil pan by letting you know when enough is enough.
Yes, by feel. You'll be an ole hand on the second oil change. You will just snug the drain plug up and give it just about 1/8 to 1/4 more, your done.So you can hear it or feel the washer crush literally?
Torque wrench more important than new "crush" washers. Threads harder to fix than a slight oil seep...
