Paddle shifters not working

When I put my 2016 p1k5 deluxe into manual mode I can upshift with the paddle but it won't downshift. Tried different speeds and it does eventually shift on its own down when it's almost to a stop. It won't let the engine die. My question is, is there an adjustment on the paddle that could be out? Or is it electronic? Thanks for the info guys. Only mods are roof and windshield, and Honda's water ingestion fix.

Did not try disconnecting the battery yet. I will give that a shot tomorrow.

I don't recall a click when trying to use the paddle either

Yeah I've taken mine apart everything seems to be working mechanically the paddle is physically toggling the switch but it's just not shifting.

Yea sorry. The paddle wasn't making contact with the toggle. A little fine tuning got it working

I took the cover off again and re verified I am toggling the switch. I even removed switch and toggled it with my finger while driving to see if maybe the paddle was not pushing down on it enough(still nothing.)
I am guessing that the switch has failed. I called the dealer and of course they have never heard of such issue and they want me to bring it in but they are an hour away. I'd have to leave it and come back another day to pick it up which would be a bigger pain in the *** than not being able to manually downshift.

Any update on this?

My 2017 1000-5 deluxe will not downshift with - paddle in MT mode. Transmission works fine in auto mode and I can manually upshift + in manual mode.

I haven't really done anymore troubleshooting since my last post. It still shifts flawlessly in auto mode and I can still manually up shift but can not down shift in any transmission mode. It's funny that you ask for an update because I was thinking about digging back in to it just yesterday. I have not been able to find a single thread where someone has had a faulty switch or wiring but that is what I previously narrowed it down to for the most part.

Keep me updated on what you do maybe we can help each other out.

I'd bet the arm came off the microswitch.
I think it is a relatively inexpensive harness to change.

I want to say thank you for pressuring me in to getting to the bottom of my shifter issue. I found the problem and resolved it for the price of a couple of but connectors and a piece of wire both of which I already had on hand.

I’ll blame mine on local dealer that installed heat product improvement campaign.

Wire was pulled out of plug. Stuck that back in. Still no downshift. Pulled front door and fender off. Found broken red wire and nick in other 2 wires where it splits from the main harness.

Had to disconnect a few other connections to get wire harness pulled out far enough on passenger side to be able to splice together.

Fixed!

Not sure how the wires got nicked where harness splits off but I bet the the red wire got pulled out of plug when heat improvement rubber was installed.

Now that I think of it, not sure the heat recall really did anything but cause my paddle shifters not to work!

Glad yours got fixed! I spent the day with a few beers and tracking down where my problem was. Cheers
