Can anyone explain how the parking brake works on the P1K? Has anyone parked on a steep hill yet and had to leave it in park? Did the tranny bind up when you tried to take it back out of park? I've been hesitant to park mine on a steep hill...

I really wish it had a hand brake. I did park on a steep hill as pictured below. It made a loud "bang" when I pulled it out of park.

I wonder if we could leave them in gear and then go to park when you get back in and have your foot on the brake? the way you're parked, leaving it in reverse should keep it from rolling backward, but I'm not sure with this superwankydine tranny they put in there...

It will roll away very fast if you don't put in park

Put the locker on and turn sharp to let the wheels bind then put it in part. I usually back up a bit. On my Polaris I added a parking brake.

Tell us more about this parking brake you added. I didn't know that was possible. I used the parking brake on my 700 all the time. I could do without the cupholder.

I had a pawlector parking brake on my Rzr. Someone could engineer one for this easily as well. I don't have the skills or machinery to do it.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. My buddy told me about adding one to his rzr. Well, there's something else to add to the list.

Had a pawlector parking brake on my 1000XP and loved it, felt much better about towing the rig with it set. Wouldn't budge. All it was is a hook of sorts that would slide over by using one foot and grab the brake pedal when depressed with the other foot, and then press the brake again the hook was spring loaded so would disengage itself off the pedal. Kinda like an old tractor parking brake. However, the chances of a company making one for a Honda SXS are probably slim to none unfortunately.

I have a friend who is a machinist nd fabricator so if I could get the design on the selector, I could see if he wanted to adapt it to the Honda to sell. He told me he is looking for stuff like that to make and market for smaller markets.

How about a Mico brake lock? Either that or a heavy duty small diameter ball valve cut into the hydraulic brake line? I'm not sure of the schematics of the system, but if you could just get front or rear it would work.

Still putting together the offer on mine but I'll really curious about the P Brake option. I'll be stopping on all kinds of hills. Did anybody figure out the braking mechanics ? Is it breaks and trans or does it just lock up the transmission? Had a thought, if there is a brake engagement, where does it take place in the shifter location? Again, not having one, seems like moving the shifter up would engage brakes and then moving it over locks up the trans. Possible vice versa. Why not add a spot for the shifter location for brakes only? Just a thought.

Obviously a quick mod, while the salesman wasn't looking.

The parking brake on the p1000 is some sort of stopper plate. It has one in the front and in the rear diff. It has an adjustment located in a metal box thats behind a removable panel in the floor.

Are the brakes on the P1000 hydrolic? If so a brake line lock would work. Electric selenoid would work.
