Our DUSTY DAWG rack has been awsome

View attachment 101639

Mike - Your Dusty Dawg carrier looks great! The first time I saw your pics in a different thread, I didn't realize it was a ready-made, off the shelf solution. Hopefully you won't mind answering a few questions. :)

Did you have any challenges in mounting your Roto-Pax to the carrier? Is your P500 the regular 50" width, and does carrying your spare tire on the upper level make it noticeably more tippy? And would you make any changes to your Dusty Dawg carrier if you were to buy another? Thanks!

I used blind nuts to mount Rotopax-it comes with all necessary mounting hardware-easily mounted even I could do it. Spare on the top as it is the only way the P5 will fit in my toyhauler. Is it too top heavy ????NO. Hope this helps. We find it safe for our basset hound and our metal detectors and lunch of course. Changes-would not have the rear gate in bottom rack-would make it easier to mount access. And it tends to rattle.

Unique exhaust! Where did you find this? Is it a lot less exhaust noise? Does it hinder the overall performance??

That's a Silent Rider. It works at quieting it down but does kill your power trail riding. I tried it and sent it back.Would be great for a hunter just putting out to his blind.

Same here, I tried one and it killed the power, had it on maybe 15 mins, called them to return it the next day.

Great ideas guys, lots of really great options. Mine is rather plain, it’s just a poly tub that I bolted to the stock tube rack. Typically in fire season, I pack a piss can back pack, (ratchet strapped to back of cab inside tub), chainsaw and other work type gear and it works for my needs. I like it as I often carry different stuff pending needs and it’s light surprisingly strong.
Thought I had pix in my link.... guess not, I’ll try to find some.

EcoPolyBlend™ Spill Tray twenty- Gallon Drip Tray | Justrite® - Justrite

Bolted this on mine and fits perfectly over the stock rack, very strong, flexible and light. I places a piece of flat stock aluminum inside the tub at the back ran bolts through flat stock and tub then through rack, with nylock nuts on the bottom. In front corners I used small aluminum angle iron and bolted down through tub and stock rack. Fashioned para cord loops in the angle iron and flat bar to tie stuff down if needed. Drilled a 1/2” hole in rear corner with boat plug to drain when needed.
Cheers,
j

So many good threads on racks, boxes and baskets scattered around. Thought a single thread for pics may help others decide or share ideas and save troubles. Have changed/modified mine over time based on good examples, never done with mods.. Getting it started for those who might pass up a P500 because of the bare rack.

Yeah I had reconfigured mine a couple of times. I don’t think I’m going to be happy until I make my own .....

It looks like a 48" wide side mount truck box, I believe Husky is a Home Depot brand.

Spend most of my time on this forum looking and learning. The 500 is such a blank page that the opportunity to take it in a direction all your own is one of it's greatest assets. This thread is very inspirational. There are some really talented folks here. Thanks for your help.

Oh yeah, we've had record setting snow up here in WI. My sympathies to those in or near floodplains south of us.
