Cool thread topic. While never been into prospecting etc. We do love to explore old mining and homesteading sites when riding out west. It has been a few years but out last trip to Utah was awesome checking out the old mining camps and so forth while riding. I already posted those pics in this thread below.

Prospecting is huge around here. Todd Hoffan and his crew from the show Gold Rush are now working just up the road in FairPlay. I drove by there last week and he had four sluces going. Some of the show Prospecters is filmed a mile down the road from our place in Lake George. I've got an old detector that I've found a few things with but some day I'd love to look for some of the civil war ere stuff. I grew back east and I'd bet our old farm has some stuff on it. I don't remember anyone ever looking there.
