My 2016 battery seems to be dying. Do I go to the dealer or is there a lower cost, high AH replacement that fits?

I bought a battery from O’reilly auto. Direct fit and local with a warranty.

By an odysse battery or similar AGM battery. They are so much better than stock.

I thought the stock battery was AGM?

I have a 5LE too. Where is your port located or was this something your dealer installed?

Under the hood adjacent to the battery. This is from the factory. 3ec75249c5dffc328c04e19e88df039c

That is not factory installed. It is dealer installed. If it were factory, it would be on the wiring diagram.

Neohio, if you only new what it took through all the crap I had to deal with to get my LE from the dealer. I could go on for an our rant, trust me they barley got the street kit installed at 6:30pm before I picked it up for a 140 mile trip the next day.

There were so many adjustments never made or fluids checked etc.

I am not arguing with you, if you say it is not on the wiring diagram I believe you. All I am saying is these numbnuts wouldn't or maybe couldn't do it anyway.

My stock battery died after a year, would never get over 11.5 volts. I wired in a yellow top optima in my 700-4. Lots of room under the drivers seat. I think using a winch for plowing, light bar, cold starts ice fishing kill those stock batteries fast. Hopefully this optima will last alot longer

I’ve had Optima in my 700 and 1000 and while some might call me biased, I think they are the best battery with the best technology available.

Can you use a regular sized Battery Tender on these batteries, the manual said not to use an “automotive” battery charger, but thats all I have right now, and the battery is dead. (Brand new unit with 2 miles on it)

You want to use an AGM compatible charger.

One way of bringing an Optima back to life after a too deep discharge, connecting it to a standard car battery and charging it with a standard charger.

Which is exactly what a ISO does when you connect the iso to the main battery....

I used a Battery Tender to bring mine back to life.
Had to restart the charger several times when the red light starts flashing again. It took a few days.

I was looking for options last night.
This is what I settled on.

I bought the same one and plan on installing today - now I just hook up to a battery tender Jr with the hood off.

Now having the hood off is a better alert to me to unplug before I take off - my fear with the plug is the time I jump in and zoom off to sound of something ripping off the wall lol.

I want to buy the best dual battery kit and best battery for a second. I don't want to be stranded! All recommendations are appreciated!

Batteries are in 3 stages and everyone has different options.

1 Type just have to decide for yourself.

2 CCA highest is always better depending on what it used for.

3 AH amp hours highest is always better. If its a second battery its all about AH because thats what your using it for the first battery is used to crank the battery. CCA and the second is used to run radio and other things while off and thats where the AH come into play.

Thanks a lot for info BT! I will order that kit and research the battery choices. The devil is in the details so I will look closely at the battery specs. The Optima battery and the Odyssey 925 are the ones I am narrowing to.
Happy Trails!
