Another thing cats do well is find under slab hot water leaks. When I go a customer home checking out a slab leak and they have a cat, I ask the home owner if there cat has started laying in a new spot, the leak is usually there, HA!

I just made this using 3/8” all thread, nuts, washers, 1/2” copper tube inside of 3/4” copper tube and wood for the ramp. I don’t have mice eating my wires, but they do occasionally get into my house. I set traps normally, tonight I’m trying this.

Mothballs work for us. When we’re storing our tractors, trucks, etc. for winter they each get mothballed.

For it to work it needs to roll very very easily.

I put the 1/2”inside the 3/4” and then the all thread. Reamed the ends and put washers on the end. It rolls very easy. I drilled the ramp so it sits on the end of the all thread tight. I’m gonna set it up tonight, I’ll let you know the results.

Throw some anti-freeze in the bucket and a drop of soap to keep them from smelling.

Between ours and the neighbors cat we don't have a mouse problem. The tractor has no problem. They love the barn where we keep hay and feed for the horses,that is where you will usually find the cats. Ours will leave dead mice and birds in front of the stove. She uses the doggie door to go in and out. Neither of our dogs bother her.

Water is usually fine, but these temps...... Might not drown them!
Just use a couple inches of antifreeze. Even RV stuff that is $3 a gallon will be fine. The soap just helps the surface tension and makes it slippery.

I learned this by accident one time. Put a little dog food or something in the bucket with the water the mice/rats dive in after it then can't get out.

Nothing last night. I don’t have a big problem with mice, just a few stragglers every year looking for food and warmth. I’ll keep it set up for a week and see what happens.

I use PEX, my days of soldering copper are long gone lol.

Use use PEX on projects that we don't have to be concerned with volume. The PEX fittings are restrictive.
