P500 Rzr 170

After much thought I have decided to keep my 500 and not by a 4 seat utv. I figure the kids will eventually get bored riding in back. I absolutely love my 500...and it’s paid for...I have decided to get them a hammerhead torpedo to ride until they are big enough to ride a rzr 170. I am going to build the rzr into a capable kids sxs. I already bought a low gear sprocket for the rzr. Gonna snorkel it, and put 22” maxxis zillas on it... anyone have any experience with the rzr 170?

It will be a while on the rzr... the hammerhead next year maybe. I’m just so ready to take them on rides! They are 2 and a half years old now. Just looking for pros and cons and tips on the rzr. And if I get the rzr I can ride it around!

No first hand experience, but I go on family outings with my neighbor often, on his 160 acres. He bought an RZR 170 about two years ago for his grandkids. He also has a Polaris Ranger and atv, and a Can Am atv. He says the RZR is the most trouble free of all of them. He keeps in in the "restriced" mode to slow it down a little. I have looked at it closely, and am pretty impressed with the quality.

I had a RZR 170 for my kids when they were young. steering was a little stiff for a kid and I had trouble keeping the carb adjusted to where it would reliably start and idle. Once warmed up it ran good just a pain when cold. If I remember correctly the 170's are Chinese made.

These are basically a quad with an extra seat. Chain drive with a big swinger in the rear. I've looked at several with broken swingarms, pretty common. I want one with a blown engine, I've got a 4 cylinder 600cc Honda I want to put in one.

Also have issue with no engine filters, not the air filter. These use a fan on the flywheel to cool the engine and the lack of a filter has caused problems.

Yeah I went ahead and ordered a Polaris edition riding suit... that’s my wife in hers too... lol

We're doing the same for my nephew he is 12 I am starting him with a hammerhead go kart. I love the kid he just doesn't listen, I can't trust him on a 4 wheeler. In Jacksonville Florida there is a 170 for 1,100 on atv trader it's missing the bed.
