After the morning's coffee I loaded El' burro rojo up and headed into town to mount the new "shoes"..

Just for grins take a look at one of the SWFA scopes.

SWFA SS HD 5-20x50 Tactical 30mm Riflescop

The SWFA is a pretty good scope and a lot less money than the Nightforce but I wanted this scope because it has the FFP rather than the SFP which I like a lot more for bench rest shooting.

Believe it or not I struggled with the 6.5 or .243 and since it will be used mostly for bench and small critters, I went with the .243. That little caliber has incredible ballistic potential with handloading and even off the shelf ammo has a bunch of choices.

On another note I went to Cablea's when shopping for this gun and when I asked if they had the RPR the counter person said he never heard of a RPR. Did not get it there.

Yep, you can do a lot of things with that caliber. Load it up or down depending. I started shooting the 7mm-08 as my standard hunting (white tail) caliber. Much like the .243 in versatility...

The 7mm-08 is an underrated caliber because people don't really understand it. It's a .308 necked down so do the math and it gets A's as far as I'm concerned.

I shot an RPR in .243 for last years PRS season. Much flatter than 6.5 and you dont have to be a Creedmoor fanboy, easy choice for me. 105gr A-Max over 42.5gr of RL19 gives me 1/2 MOA. I topped it with an XTR II in 5-25x this year and am in love with it. Burris has really stepped up their game.

Back to the thread, those Rip's look so much better. Wish I had looked at those a little more carefully before I bought tires.

How is steering with the 11s @ChungasRevenge ?

It's not power, but it's not laborious. At least over frozen ground. Muck and mire, yet to be determined.

With mine you know they are there. More noise than the stock tires on some terrain but the steering I think is still just fine. But then I wore out two Landcruisers that didn't have power steering so I may not be the best judge.

Hah. Land Cruisers. I had two 1981 BJ42s. Fun for a few years but always needed some wrench turning. I prefer my Duramax / P500 combo now!
