Hi Everyone,

Have looked off and on for selecting a windshield for a 2018 1000-5.......not sure if I have seen all of them but there are many on the market and I did not want to spend $500+ and get something that I would not like later on.....so wanted some feedback on what others have purchased or decided not to purchase and why.
Hope to lock into something good soon.

I wouldn't recommend the Honda one piece poly. Mine sprays rain water into the cab around the seal (I use that term loosely), when driving through rain. Poor, ugly design for mounting to the machine.

Thanks for the input as I was leaning toward the two piece that opens or the solid glass. Honda seems to sell gold products most of the time so was hoping to find coated and at least 1/4". Sounds like some vent issue with solid glass.

I have owned the Honda 2 piece and now I own the Super ATV Flip - I am very pleased with and prefer the SATV windshield. It takes a little more tweaking to put on but it is so nice to flip up the windshield and get it out of the way to get some wind or just to get the glare off ya sometimes. I also think the SATV has better optics than the honda and can confirm the Honda lower is not hard coated and scratches easy.

Whatever you do I'd recommend glass. It won't scratch and if you break it an auto glass shop can replace it for cheap.

I also have the Honda glass windshield. The metal frame is great, but the lower seal needs some tweeking with foam, like the pipe kind at Home Depot. Once I added that it can rain all it wants.

For what it's worth, I went out to Menards and purchase a 60 by 30 in sheet of clear plastic sheet (1/8 inch) for 35 dollars on sale, 10ft of thin weather stripping for $2, 6ft section of pipe insulation for $4 and a pack of zip ties for $2.50 and did the BARE MINIMUM.

It's working just fine <20mph. Keeps the wind and water off me when I'm feeding deer in the winter and I have less than 50 bucks in it. 6 zip ties on/off. Id never trailer with it on, but if the weather is nice I don't like a windshield anyhow. So for my purposes it's working out well. I'm a cut off the extra outside the roll cage eventually, but for now I just figured it's a couple extra inches of wind and rain protection.

all the pictures I have of it are just the plastic sheet still with a protective coating but it gives you an idea of how much coverage you can get at that price.

Thanks for all the good suggestions.....thought about building my own but the bottom seal seems like it is better if it is a molded version. Still leaning towards glass or fold out. Can still see some pros and cons for both. I will let you guys know when I get it ordered and put on.

Thanks again for the good suggestions and input.

I ran the last 2 winters with a Superatv half windshield and a 12" visor. I really like the tinted visor for ice riding because it works great as a sun blocker

I did just buy a SuperATV 2 piece windshield for this winter and the extra wind protection is great

I have a poly with vent/slits across the bottom, see below. On mine and not sure what it would be on a P1000, but I can open/close them. Do keep in mind, when you use a windshield, especially when solid not allowing the vents to push air through the cab, you will get a vaccum/vortex effect bringing debris back into the cab and that will be problematic in dusty conditions and if you have debris in the bed, so you may think of a back glass as well. I am able to get by without anything in the back because I only install the windshield during winter time and enjoy full air during summer.

Alumilte Armor

I have the alumiLite armor tip up glass windshield. I can use it vented or completely open. The glass section comes off in about a minute with just 2 bolts and 2 latches its extremely easy. If you want to go all out these guys make great stuff.
