Not sure if theres a thread that's a complete guide on snorkels and options for the 1000 but after seeing a few different ones and hearing the horror stories of hitting puddles and locking up the motor we can start a thread that's a direct guide for it, since the info is kind of scattered throughout different topics.

This is one idea I was toying with in my driveway. basicly redirecting the intake, no cutting involved and very easy to change back you need a 2 1/2" radiator clamp 2- 2" st 90s 1- 2" regular 90 and 12" of 2" pvc. im going to run this and see how it works. looking at the intake there were several little muddy streaks that made its way in. I do not mud ride but hit puddles at speed and under the right conditions it can get in the intake.

This is 650 miles of riding and ive never washed under the hood so it stays fairly clean.

Tell me that doesn't end right at the scoops.

If you pull your dash or look above your wheels you will see that the water is scooped up and thrown under your hood. I reccomend getting that either in your cab or adding a bunch of twisty turns.

Go high or die.

Its really clean back there. Really designed to avoid the direct splash problem from hitting puddles. You think this is worse than the factory design where it's right in front and can get forced into the air intake? I don't mud. But I'm all ears.

I like Ridem's design, intake is from under the dash, clean area, and you still have the prefilter for weeds etc. and if you caught any water, there's a place for it to go, unlike the vertical snorkels through the hood, water could suck in and straight down into the filter and engine.

Can one of you guys who installed the snorkel-thru-the-hood please post a picture of a tape measure laid across your hood so the rest of us who are contemplating the installation can have something to refer to in order to double-check our own measurements? If you wish you would have moved the hole up, down, left, or right, please let us know. Thanks a ton!

I taped a laser pointer in the intake tube pointing straight up. Then I put the hood back on and marked the drill point where the laser was shinning through.

I can also measure if you like but that will have to wait until tomorrow.

Great minds and all of that...

I was thinking of doing the same thing with a laser line. I was going to set it up on the side and mark the front/back line, then setup in front to mark the left/right line. Drill and be done.

Can you still shoot a pic and post it up? Thanks again!

I was going over my Pioneer yesterday checking bolt tightness, oil level and air pre filter. I found the 45 degree fitting loose and almost off the air box where pre filter is located. Both clamps where loose. I reinstalled the fitting and clamps and matched marked the 2 connection points so I can tell in a glance if loose or coming apart. Guys you might check yours I noticed some mud stains down in air intake hose while checking pre filter. There was no mud or staining on filter. I knew something was going on.
