Spare tire mount.

I decided to mount my spare upright in the cargo area. Takes away some room but it was simple and works so far. The real test will be in the north woods in a few weeks. I used a piece if 1 1/8 diameter bar stock, milled a couple flats on it, tapped the end and tapped the vertical hole to bolt up through the existing bracket, couple bolts and a washers. I also used a bungee to the passenger side rear cargo hold down. So far so good but haven't had it on anything to rough yet. This is a stock front tire.

I really like that mount but I would add a safety strap so it can't come out. My buddies have had their spare come out and roll down the side of a mountain. Not fun retrieving it and that is if you can find it.

Yeah you're right , if that weld breaks or bolt comes loose I would be screwed. I would never find that sucker in the Northwoods weeds .Thanks for the input.

Are you using a stock front tire as a spare ?
Not sure how it would work with a larger tire.

It would just rotate until the holes line up.
it’s a 28x11 on steel ITP wheel.
