No. Have not. I don't think I will. The only place I see a advantage is in extreme rock crawling. I've got a really good winch if it's that bad.
I haven't had the chance to ride mine hard off trail.. I like speed and we run a lot of blacktop so I've been debating?

In your case I would definitely leave it on. My little racing Miata has a sway bar as big as your wrist to handle high speed turns. It's a must on pavement.

I took it off on the p500 and it was a far better ride just curious how different the 1000 is.

I received my "stage 5" front shocks from elka today, and they also only have the single rate spring. I sent them a message to see why their website shows the stage 5s with dual rate springs but the ones I received look like stage 3s with a stage 5 can... will update when I get a response. I may have to start a different thread just to let everyone on the forum know that elka practices false advertising... I hate having to do s*** like that, but its B.S. to pay that kind of money and then receive a product that doesn't match their advertisement.

@snuffnwhisky did you ever contact them to ask why your stage 4s didn't have dual rate springs as advertised on their website?

The reply I got was it wasn't needed. My guess is the little shock travel doesn't warrant it. Plus it would take a lot heavier coils for the same rate plus more moving parts to maintain and noise.

I think the stage 5 shocks will not require dual or triple rate springs. The springs main purpose is to support the weight of the machine and contents. Duals and triple rates springs help with smoothing out the soft , medium, and hard hits with shocks with little compression or rebound control. You have the best made. You just gotta dial them in for the style of riding your doing today. The only problem is you will need to test and tune. Test and Tune. My research says don't get hung up on a single rate spring. With adjustable compression high and low speed and rebound- dual rate springs would be impossible to dial in. Use that highly educated pumpkin on your shoulders and think about it. How would you design it?

Maybe so...but why advertise it as dual rate?

I've owned quads with triple rate works racing shocks and Oliens single rate stage 4s with all the bells and whistles. The Oliens smoked them all. I bet it has something to do with longer travel for some racing applications (popos). Those walker Evans Richards got didn't look like it had more than 4" of compression travel.

ok, @Delton @JTW @ghost @Windrock1000 ... I don't know where to begin... I added the Highlifter lift kit, Elka stage 5 shocks, MSA 3.5" offset wheels, and 28x10x14 maxxis carnivores... boys, I think old Pete is dialed in! I took a buddy up on Aetna today. he has been up there several times with me, and we were both left speechless today! this set up feels custom suited for the p1k! I won't get on here and gush, but GOT.DAM! we rode for about 2 hours just feeling things out, and it was like butter. stuff that used to slow me down, we just floated right through it today. I eventually started trying intentionally to find the bottom of the Elka shocks and I only managed to bottom out twice, on purpose, on some knarly s*** bc I just kept the hammer down. it is really unbelievable. it wasn't cheap, but I am one happy camper with this set up!

Did you do rear shocks too?
yes, all the way around... I can't say enough about the Elkas... I'm sorry I ever doubted them... those boys dialed me up perfectly. I didn't have to make any adjustments and don't plan on touching any of the dials. they sent me a form that tells how many turns each setting was tuned from the factory, so I can always go back to those settings if it ever gets messed up.
