Im glad to hear those are working out for you. Having another option besides trying to upgrade/fix the horrible factory shock setup is big.
Another option would be to buy a set of Fox shocks off of an earlier model and have them revalved and resprung to replace the Showa shocks.

Weird how things work when you use them like their intended to be used
I get your point, but I need to let everyone know that I did try it at higher speeds on the trail and the machine became just about uncontrollable due to the machine bouncing off the ground and bucking the rear literally into the air, and clearly beating the sh*t out of the machine, and us. The showa struts SUCK. (on the x2) Not because Showa doesn't build good struts, but because the damping rates and springs are just completely wrong. I've seen some other mentions about re-valving and different springs, but no one is doing this yet for these particular struts. There's just no aftermarket info on them yet....

I wanted a Showa Shock model, but they only come in black. That was a deal breaker for me. After I took a look at one at my dealer, I was surprised to see no preload adjustment or cross over rings. I didn't want a live valve model, but I had no choice. I'm satisfied with the live valve system. I change from standard to the sport mode as the trail changes. Honda did a good job with the live valve model. The rear tender springs will sack out but it's easy to replace the stock 6-inch springs with the Eibach 12-inch springs. I'm close to 10,000 miles on my Talon R 4-seater. I'm buying a live valve 2-seater later this year. After a few thousand miles and will replace the rear tender springs.

Call FCR or G-Force - or the shock shop of your choice - I would be disappointed if they couldn’t fix these up in no time. I am sure FCR can whittle up threaded preload bodies as well.

Sucks ballz to drop the coin. I cried a bunch but best money well wasted - can actually enjoy the ride now.

The new KRX has the same shocks but with crossovers and preload adjusters. I assume the parts are available, but again, who do you call?

I was thinking a shop like FCR would just make the threaded body and they make a lot of their own stuff. Only reason I suggest is I was out that way for work, dropped my shocks off and they took me back in the shop so I could see one come apart and the CNC’s were whittling nitrogen caps, preload rings, custom parts, etc…..


I could be wrong 😂😂 but worth a shot.

The ultimate shock option is the new Bilstein Blackhawk that is making appearances on Mav Rs and Pro Rs in a bunch of race series. Jamie from Raceco is working with Bilstein to get them built to fit Talons. The Mav R and Pro R offerings are $6-7k for a set and are loaded with options for that price.

Are that external bypass for that kind of money?

Schmidty Racing has been tuning them and has some posts on FB about the internals and all the trickness they have going on inside.

Coilovers can only be internal bypass. The springs and bypass tubes would occupy the same space so that's why all coilovers are IBP.
I was being facetious, but there better be some serious magic going on in there for that kind of coin. I'm no stranger to spending money on suspension, I ran Ohlins on my track day 748, and Tommy Morris tuned the Foxes on my X3. I will read up on these Bilsteins. Thanks.
