@wyodlr is correct. You didn't have enough power for the solenoids to work correctly I believe you're good. Check ground on battery as welldual battery would help in the future

A dual battery with isolator will help just hook the winch to the extra battery

as others have noted, a dual battery set up with an isolator should prevent this from happening. hook the winch to the second battery so it won't drain from your main battery or charging system.

Why wouldn't it? If that's the case the battery would never be a 100% because anytime you start it, it drains a little juice. Has a charging system and regulater.
