Has anyone who's run this bumper a while run into issues with it restricting airflow? I haven't had an overheating issue yet, But then again I really haven't even broken her in. I certainly plan to mount the winch, but the light bar looks like I might be making bad idea even worse. What do you guys think?

I have had some problems overheating, but can not swear it was due to TC bumper. I did the burping and reflashing and seemed to help until the last time when radiator filled with mud. BUT, no doubt the bumper may have made problem worse. I just added some slits for better air flow but small enough to keep sticks out.

I haven't had problem yet. I just got back from riding down in south Florida for 3 days in mid 90s, and never really noticed the temp over 3 bars.

I ordered my tough country bumper Friday evening and have been surfing thru the forums reading about overheating issues. I spend most of my time on farm land and dirt roads and trails and completely try and avoid mud holes. That was fun 20 years ago on my 400ex. I’m hoping to never have an issue. But I agree, it looks like that light bar blocks almost everything, but, the fan should compensate for that I would think.

So you hit 3 bars? That was @BigOL3 problem, but we were on a long uphill climb so it never got a chance to catch up once it started to get hot. Radiator was muddy too, but he was the only one to overheat.

Just once we were riding slow opening a lot of cattle gates so we were not getting a lot of air flow. I will have to pay closure attention next time.

Thanks guys. I mounted the winch but I think I'll find somewhere else for that light bar

Make sure you strength the mounting tab on the bumper side before you put it on. I bent mine the first time I really pulled with the winch. It's a super well made bumper expect for the mounting point to the pioneer.

How did you go about strengthening the tab?

I purchased some steel box tubing and basically made the bumper mount the same way as the stock bumper. Not my best work but now the bumper is better supported. I also used the stock mounting point too.

Some people just weld o. Reinforcement tabs to help keep the tabs from bending.Ac43be80251f4b57e6492e308ec4bcfd6873dbe074b0ddd32b013e31442ee161

It was 1.5" box with a 0.125 wall. A little over kill.

No problem. The fun part is getting it all aligned properly due to the angle the have the receiver side mounted at on the frame. I do know that if I bend something now I have messed my frame up.
