Picking up a new to me Honda 1000-5 pioneer tomorrow. Will a U-Haul auto transport trailer work to bring it home?

Excited for my new toy
If you need a flat trailer check your local tractor supply store, they rent them in some areas.

Thanks for the advice so far....of course U-Haul didn't have the trailer I reserved online so I ended up with this..

Does anyone know the width of the tires inside to inside and outside to outside? Trying to confirm before I head out tomorrow.

Outside to outside on a stock machine is 63".
Front wheels are 9" wide and rear are 11" wide. I'll let you do the math.

Trailer worked perfectly better than I expected.... Now the fun begins...

If you can get the front tie down strap attach points lower down, I think it'll be a lot better. The fore and aft frame rails, just aft of the front end, have elongated holes on their underside. Hooks will attach there securely and will put a lot less stress on the front tie downs.

The front bumper is kind of a fake out. Looks strong, (and is doubtless strong enough for being a bumper) but the attach to frame is all at the bottom - so where you show attaching, besides the suboptimal high angle, is cantilevered up there near its weakest point.

Okay! Congrats on the buy!

I always tie to the A arms out by the wheels. If you tie to the bumper, especially angled up so steep, each bump in the road bounces your machine straight against the tiedown points. It puts a lot more wear on everything.

If your straps come in at flat angles or tie on below the suspension, the machine bounces without slamming against the strap or tiedowns.

I should, don't see why not. Make sure you strap it down properly. 👍

Pics or it didn't happen!! 😂

When you pick up the trailer, don’t let them know you’re hauling a side by side. For some reason they think you’re going to abuse the trailer. I used one of their car hauler trailers to bring mine home.

Glad it worked out for you! I rented a U-Haul utility trailer to go pick up mine and realized when I got there that the trailer had triangle braces that narrowed the back opening to the point I could not get the machine onto the trailer. Should have gone for a vehicle trailer. My wife drove home with the empty trailer and I drove home the long way on the smallest roads I could find. Took a while, but worked fine. Good thing I was just a few cities over.

Just in case anyone else finds this useful...

The U-Haul car hauler works perfect for a 4 seat Talon, too. 900d5a62b51b2d4cbd2172a473d82a33
