Today I took it for the first real ride through some kinda technical trails. My question is I noticed when going slow in high or low going up a hill the transmission seemed to shudder. Didn't know if it's slipping or normal. Just something I noticed. Has anybody else noticed this or just me. All in all this thing performed flawlessly and will go anywhere.

That is the Clutch going in and out. Each oscillation is the clutch coming out, the computer realizing there is not enough wheel speed to leave it out, then going back in again, rinse, repeat. It happens so fast it feels like a shudder. Don't operate in this band very long as it will build up a lot of heat. Go just a touch faster and you'll notice the clutch will stay engaged.

I noticed that too playing in the creek. Like it could not decide if it wanted to be engaged or dis-engaged. I figured this might be normal and figured as I play more in the soft creek I will learn the best method and gear to have it in.

Yea and that was in first gear kinda in a bind.didnt make a difference in low or high. Also In slow technical stuff. Guess I better get the extended warranty just in case.

So as people get some hours on these is this DC Transmission showing a limitation that R&D should have engineered out? Just curious.

I felt it today too on a steep hill that I was climbing. I gave it more throttle and it responded well.
What I liked the most was how this transmission performed going down hill. Engine braking was AWESOME!

Na, I think its more just learning how it works and what to expect doing this or that.
I have found that 2nd gear low works best for crawling in the soft sand.

Totally agree. LOVE the engine braking! Way better than any belt driven machine I've driven.

And this is when you put it into manual mode. I had the same effects today riding through everything from 1in of snow to 2 ft of snow and the tranny wanted to shift too much up and down lagging in power and kept revs low. I switched to manual and hung onto to gears keeping revs between 4-6K.

In the dry farm field riding I did when I first bought it,I thought shift points were spot on and found no reason for the paddle shifters other then down shifting. Different ball game when your riding under load, that option makes the Honda tranny that much better.

Nice, :D. Polaris have owned the trails uncontested for some time, so don't expect them to be happy about it when they can't shake you off their tail.;) I fell in with a group on a recent ride, and after helping one of them change out a rear axle (yes, for real), we climbed some of the narliest stuff I've ever attempted, on anything. I had 3 grown men in the front seat of my p1k, stayed in the throttle, and tried to point a wheel at any rocks that I didn't think I could straddle. It helped that one of my buddies kept saying, "oh you got this".lol I think he was the only one of us three who was thinking those words exactly!lol Anyway, when the dust cleared, the PoPo boys were pretty impressed, and started moving in for closer looks, saying things like, "I think your axles are bigger than mine", and "your a-arms are bigger steel". So don't worry Stauvo, and when in doubt GAS IT!lol

Keep in mind that you don't have to shift to manual to up or downshift. Just do it while in auto.

Polaris units have been the biggest trade ins so far on 1000's @ my dealership. Only gotten 2 700's on trade, but its still early in the life cycle. 700's still going strong here, 2 this week with Honda plows, 1 with full soft cab.

I sold my 2015 Polaris Ranger 570 to be able to get my 1000-3. I would of gotten a 700 if they had a low range.

The day we bought our P1K3 someone had
just left as we arrived that wanted this
P1K but had a trade. He wouldn't give them
enough for their trade in, so they left.

I asked him what they wanted to trade and he
said a Polaris. He said he didn't want it.

Everyone I know who is into 4 wheeling has
always said, don't buy a Polaris.

Rincon/Big Red/P700 have same clutch setup, but use a converter to drive it instead. Same tech just a different way of getting power from the crank to the transmission.
On the topic of Polaris, we just rebuilt an entire 800 crew engine. Called a dealer in Columbus to ask their opinion on the noise it was making. They immediately knew what it was, cam wiped a lobe and took out a rod bearing. Said every 800 will do it, just a matter of time. Completely junk accoriding to him, said Polaris won't do a thing about it either. This one only had 700 miles on it, they claim it's because of not using Polaris oil filters.
