ssssooooo, whos the knucklehead that left the spring out while doing the last oil change?

That would be me! I'm so mad at myself about it because maintenance is my thing. I'm super thorough with it so this has destroyed me. I blacked out for three days and just woke up in the shop floor in the fetal position. I was surrounded by empty beer cans. Who knows what happened.

I always put paper towels on the skid plate to catch the oil so when I put the cover back on the spring must've fell out onto the paper towels which would be the reason I did not hear it. I bought two in case that happens again. I also bought two DCT springs. I'm so pissed about it. I'm one of those guys it says if you want it done right you need to do it yourself. I guess now I'm one of the "other" guys.

lol thats funny. My father had me doing brake jobs (with him watching) on the family cars since I was 12 (mid 50s now), about 15 years ago my wife and bought her a 69 firebird. After complete rebuild of the front suspension and steering, I converted the manual drums brakes to power disc's. After all that was done the following day I brought the car in for state inspection. After a while the mechanic calls me and says hey we have a little problem with your car, can you come up here and take a look. You can see what I did for an ooops moment in the picture. I still keep these pads hanging in my garage just as a reminder to slow down and pay attention. It obviously didn't do much good to the rotor but I chucked that.

Yep, I had an adopted son with me until he was 18 and he did the same thing under my supervision. He asked me if I wanted to inspect it and I told him, "no I trust you". Well my wife brought the car back a couple days later saying the brakes were making a funny sound. Today that young man is pretty handy and still remembers that. I bet he doesn't do it again!

I installed a 12v socket on the front fender for spot lights or bilge pumps. It's will also be a good port for charging. It's supposed to be water proof, we will see. It's fused just in case.

I made another set of lower fender flares. I loved my last set but they were beat up after a year of use. Also got enough material for the Farm Rig. These work so good in addition to the MudBusters.

Here's a good one. Y'all make sure your cables are tight on the True battery isolators. They are water tight unless the nuts are loose. I replaced it and used electric grease to help. Now I check the cables when the hood is up. I suggest you guys do to.

This one failed to connect the two batteries.

Meh we've all done dumb crap like that buddy. Wouldn't be human if we didn't. It's called a life lesson. It's the ones we never forget and probably never will repeat. It's all good!

So the reason it's on its side is because last Monday I changed the oil and found that there was no spring between the engine filter and cover. s***! I've been 100 hours or ~450 miles like that. I finished the oil change and got the spring a few days later. So I turned it on its side so I can remove the cover and install a new spring without loosing oil.

That spring, in several Honda models has been the bane of many. Too bad some smart engineer couldn't design the oil cover in a manner that those springs literally threaded on the cover and stayed in place.

I went to the mailbox the other day and couldn't resist testing the Elka shocks in the ditch. Also it's a good test of the rear suspension with the ASB.

Looks like I've got my suspension set up as low as I can go with these tires.

The front still has a little bit of clearance.

These next two pictures show the rear shocks. One is fully compressed on the bump stops and the other one is fully extended.

It's no sport model but it does pretty good for a crossover

I've been meaning to fix the slop in the CATVOS front upper A arm for a while. Finally got around to doing that. CATVOS was nice enough to send the parts which are updated to be better than before.

Check the vid of the play!!
