The tornado that came through Sunday night missed me by about 35 miles but hit real close to @Smitty335 . Lots of folks still without power tonight and roads still closed. Talked to him today and all is good at his place. Anyone heard from @nbomar ?

Sorry I haven’t been around as much as I used to... I’m good. Missed my house by a couple miles. Lots of damage still up here though.

What’s left.
Any foundation yet.
All the plans and design made ?
And how’s your road doing. Hard yet.
Haha , that’s what she said.
Sorry, worked construction for too many years. :)

My brother has a double he put up in the summer. I was up in it a few days ago. I thought it wouldn’t be too hard , get some 3/4 or 1” conduit, that can be bent with a hand bender.
And just make a frame, like a big U,
and tarp it. Sit all day up there.
Well, maybe younger. Haha
With a bender, it wouldn’t be bad.

So the road has stabilized great. I had two tandem dump loads of 1.5” engineer fill delivered yesterday and the trucks made no impact to the road whatsoever. It’s like driving on asphalt now.

I’m working on grade for the house foundation now. The general area of the house, garage, well house etc is to the eye sorta level with minimal slope/drainage. That is until you begin building a house pad with a transit, level. For a pad 40’x60’, it’s built up 1’ of fill on the high end and 3’ on the low end. 120 yards of engineer fill, $6,000.00

I’ve nearly got that completed with all utilities roughed in. Concrete guy should excavate and pour 2nd week of November.

Yeah, Monday’s snow, which amounted to an inch, was gone yesterday, I had blue sky and sunshine to work in, but I think it’s back today, I haven’t looked outside yet this morning (it’s still dark) but I know the high is just 30* today and will be 10* in the morning. But then we go back to 50’s and low 60’s

54 with a good steady rain cooling all day to 36. 48 Thursday with a low of 30. That should knock a few leaves off the trees.

They

They work pretty well, leaves build up in the valleys and inside corners. The oak blooms in the spring are worse than leaves.
I ended up removing mine as Oak leaves would get matted and stuck to the guard building a bridge to the outside of the gutter so the water ran straight over the gutter making them useless.

I built a 3500 sq ft home years ago with my father and brother. Started it in September, worked all winter. Seemed like everyday we had snow or freezing rain. Every day go to work and spend time scraping ice off the floor or 2x6’s. Couldn’t wait to get it roof tight.
Hopefully you won’t get that.

Yeah, I’m not going to be headed out to the property today. Snow day. I’ll enjoy it from town and the comfort of the casita.

Inside the well house I’ve got the R-30 in the ceiling and R-19 in the walls. Now R-5 rigid foam insulation over all that with all seams and corners caulked and taped.
