I guess two of the people killed, were neighbors of the gunman and were killed first, moved from N M three years ago.
He survived Vietnam.
Both did a lot of volunteering up here.
John Zahi and Elizabeth Thomas.

Two people that were killed that lived next to the idiot, were from NM.
They were only here 3 years but everyone loved them.
They probably moved there thinking it was a safe place to move. And it probably would have been.
