The guy who briefed me on my P5 at the dealer told me to wash the foam element in gasoline and re-oil and reuse it.

Better to replace?

Joe
use Kerosene. Gasoline would work, but I think it would eventually kill the adhesive and ruin the filter. Like Monte said, keep an eye on it. They are reusable, but they don't last forever. You don't want to wring it out hard by twisting it. You can gently squeeze out the kerosene, and maybe use clean towels to get more out. Let it dry overnight, and oil the crap out of it with air filter oil. I'm using UNI oil now, but there are many kinds that will work just as well.

I bought an extra filter, so I can always have a clean one oiled and ready to go, on the shelf.

They are only like $15, and my 700XX uses the same filter. So I figured it would be nice to have an extra to use with either machine.

Sorry I didn't see @rocmar already stated that using gas isn't a good idea.

This is my 1st SxS
but have had numerous
ATV,s & I find using
something not harsh
on the foam...makes it
last for awhile longer

That looks really good mounted in that location ehart! Hadn't seen that one yet.
I'm hoping it will work when I mount the winch with the KFI mount. If I had done better measuring i would have probably got a longer one and mounted it higher. Wanted it as high as possible, but still have under hood access and clear the winch. Didn't want a huge one up on the roof. For now, it seems to work. Will report back if I have problems.

Got my light bar mounted
but still waiting on my
switches.....View attachment 14411, u
I think I would have been better off if I had done it the way you did. If I had a light with bottom mounts I could have mounted it on the bumper and not had possible clearance issues with my future winch... Looks good.

No... don't jinx me rocmar. It takes a hell of a beating on the roof but everything seems to roll off. Took mine out today and rode a full tank through it on some pretty diverse trails. Wanted to check out some 1" spacers I put on. Handled great. Mud holes, soft sand, big sticks, ruts, tight turns, bumping roll bar off trees, pushing branches out of the way through windshield. Never took it out of 2WD. This thing's a beast!!

Finished the electrical today, got ocd and plated the entire surface under the hood to help keep water out. Installed fuse box and relays, will post a photo or two tomorrow on my build thread.

Looks good tex! Much better than that plastic tray.
Welcome Tex!

Good looking basket! And SWEET ride! (I've got a purty blue one too.:))

I'm between Dallas and Texarkana, and hope to get up your way to ride soon.

Good folks here.
