You are 100% correct. Very debilitating. I have Osteoarthritis of the spine from my mid back all the way through my tailbone. I also have osteophytes (bone spurs) a bulging disc. I’m 38 years old and definitely not the man I was 4 years ago.
I wish we both lived closer to @CID . Steaks and Beers would Flow.

Do some research on PMR (Polymyalgia Rheumatica) I went to all these specialist, had all kinds of tests and was diagnosed with Acute Rheumatoid Arthritis with the x-rays to prove it, couldn't even dress my self. My wife called BS and hauled my butt up to our GP. Told him all about the tests and diagnosis. He told me he didn't believe I had RA, he said I think you have PMR, I asked him about tests, he said there is no test for PMR, I want to put you on steroids for 3 days, call me in 72 hours and let me know If you feel any better, 24 hours later I knew he was on to something. So I called him the next day and told him the results, so he put me on a prescription of reducing dosage steroids for 30 days, done and I feel great. Kept my appointment with my so called Specialist, walked in and he looked at me and said you are moving great, I told him about my GP and diagnosis, he couldn't believe it, he had never heard of PMR. He even X-Rayed my hands that day and said your inflammation is gone, I was supposed to pick up my Eppi pin that day for RA, left it there. No pain as of today and no drugs.

So I emailed the dealer back and asked if I could somehow get a discount. He said he could do everything for a total cost of $542.34. That’s about $88 less than the original quote.
This includes all the oils, all filters (including air filter), spark plugs, and adjusting the toe-in on the front wheels.

That sounds fair to me

A friend that I trust working on my stuff wants to charge me $100 labor at his shop, not including the toe-in adjustment. I might have to go this route.
The oil, filter, plug and air filter are going to be $75 in parts if you buy them. To do all that is probably 1-2 hours. I would guess most shops charge $100+/hour. So you are looking at $300 including tax. No idea on the alignment but $129 for a car would seem right so this should be half that...but I dont own a Honda shop. The bottom line is many here can do that (and enjoy it) and probably do it right. At the dealer it is going to cost you but then you have a throat to choke and "maybe" they do a bit more, depends on the tech. I think if you are nice/fair to them, tell them your limitations, most (I didnt say all) will do a good job. They have a business to run and if McDs is paying $18/hr to flip burgers, what is someone w/ skills worth? IF it were me / my money, I would pay cash to my buddy if he knows what he is doing and go get the alignment at the dealer. But your money, your rig, your decision.

@Travis R Agree, PMR was a good call. But if that ain't it, you might consider a Tens Unit for the pain. They are not expensive now, and available on Amazon etc. I used one for a good while before I had back surgery (a laminotomy) 5 years ago. There are limitations as to where you can place the electrodes, but work looking into.

I changed the spark plugs at 19,000 miles on my Pioneer 1000 but only because I was selling it. My Talon is still ok at 37,482 miles but I'm changing them only because I will be selling it later this year or next year. The high-end plugs should be good for at least 40,000 miles. In cars they get replaced at 100,000 to 105,000 miles.

I had a Jeep with 160,000 mi. on original plugs. I don't know if that ever caused any problems to it's new owner but it still ran like the day I bought it and still got 18mpg with a tailwind just like new. LoL

I got a quote to do my first service at 100mi/20hrs. Not including air filter it was $450. The only thing in that service that may be more difficult is the check/setting of the valve clearances. From some other posts this prices doesn't sound horrible. I have some time before my service is needed and just planning ahead. I know the oil change kits are like $80 and front/rear diff fluid is no big deal. My guess is that most of that is labor. What are others paying or getting quoted for this service?

thats fair in todays market - you may want to consider not getting the valves checked that early early, generally get em checked when they start ticking.......

That's a bargain IF he is familiar with the issue of draining and refilling the sub-transmission (transfer case).

You can perform a decent "shade tree" front end alignment with a 7' long piece of 1" by 2" lumber and two nails as a guide.

I'd bet there's a Youtube video showing you how to do it.
