Well got a little further on the bed build.
Received my raptor bedliner

Also got my make shift paint booth up, and put on the first coat of self etching primer

After kicking it around, I decided to remove all the steel brackets, will shoot the bedliner then re attach brackets in the hopes of not getting wood that would rot out beneath them, and not worry about the bedliner not adhering to the brackets

Self etching on wood, why?

You know, I thought I read that, that’s what they recommended, even on wood, but I could be mistaken, I know the can of rustoleum self etching primer I used, said it was good on wood. I’ve used it in the past on bare metal and had really good results(which I guess is what self etching is more designed for)

Well, finally got the raptor bedliner sprayed onto the bed. Very happy with result so far(still drying as I type this up)

Texture turned out nice, I ended up using two bottles, now just have to wait for it to dry...

Looks good, the whole box has a nice lightweight "foam" appearance

The raptor liner finished curing, i’m Very happy with the results, it’s very durable, I did a few test scratches with a screwdriver in an inconspicuous spot and it left no marks. It did cover all the grain look of the wood which I like.

I mocked it back up on the machine with the Honda cargo tray clamps and ran into an issue. When I built the bed I made it to be flush with the front and sides of the rack, and overhang on the rear, the clamp mounting points on the front and sides will be so close to the edge of the wood, I would be worried about it splitting out, but I think I have an idea on making some brackets for the clamps to mount to, to negate that.

There is also a slight “wang chung” due to one of the pieces of wood being bowed slightly , but I think that will be taken out once it’s all securely bolted down to the rack.
