Anyone know the kind of headlight bulb being used in the non deluxe models? I want to replace the bulb to possible halogen.

I have been contemplating hid front headlights on mine.

Bonehead is that a Bigred in your avatar? Wish I had one of those they were my favorite back in the day.

Just got my p1000 deluxe last night. As unloading first thing I notice is headlights were pointing at the tree tops. Any adjustments possible? We ride a lot at night and good lighting is essential.

Ya, There is a screw under the light. Screw it out to tilt down.

The adjustment screw is long enough but the spring on mine was too short so I added a 1/4 inch shim. My 3 seat model is frame number 24.

It's 800 series I believe 881? Anything with an 800 should work. Don't even bother going to the led setup they aren't near as bright as a set of 35hid. However if you're not on the road much go 55w hid. We had hids in the 700 and they were so much brighter the the led in our 1000. Go to eBay type in 881 hid kit and be done with it. Good use of 35 bucks.

Are the LED lights a self contained unit or can you pull out individual LED bulbs and put in HIDs in their place?

Thanks Hondasxs, My P-1000 5 Deluxe is suppose to be here this month so waiting for March to be done was painful. I will see how the LED lights work for me.

I've had them apart and thought about changing them, if someone was feeling froggy they could switch them out to something like the Cree hxp50 but it would be more work then it would be worth. I wound up just spraying the black on the inside of mine red so everything wasn't done in vain and reassembled them.

I do agree with that but if they were 55 HIDS you would see them for sure even 35 you notice on because HID penetrates deeper a lot better the led does. It's because the concentration of light in such a small area is drastic with HID. LED you have to have huge surface area for the light in order to place enough LEDs to get the same wattage. The flood of led is great but depth comes in great from HID. But absolutely the factory LED headlights totally get washed out with almost any lightbar you buy

Someone told me they were H13. I plan on getting a set of LED bulbs eventually
LED bulbs are getting better but they're still not quite up to snuff with HID yet I keep trying. H 13 might be the same as 800 series but I know for my 700 absolutely for sure I was 800 series so I'm pretty sure the thousand is the same

I love to dabble in custom LED lights. You would be surprised what an LED will do. The biggest restriction is the driver, the LED are capable of much more. Manufactures attempt to blend battery life with out put. If you forget about the battery life and build a custom driver, you will be amazed.

I have a single XML2 flash light that will shoot a beam a mile. That's right, I can see houses on a mountain top across the valley with this light.

So, if people could figure out who could make us some custom drivers for these headlights we would have something really special.

Ok, so I just stepped outside to take a couple pictures of the flashlight above. This light is several years old and now with the same LED and current driver technology you can have twice the output.
