Honestly, if anyone is looking to honda to do any major upgrades or changes to a model they just need to look at the history of the ATV. I sold a 16 year old Recon to make room for my P5, I don't think they ever change some things, at least nothing major.

Maybe we'll get a front locker added before 2022, when Elon Musk's Space X plans to land on Mars! Complicated Engineering does take time you know.

I don't think we will ever see a front locker in a p5. I never expected any changes to the 18's because they made changes to the 17's and it's not likely for manufacturers to make significant changes every year.

I'm content there were no changes in 2018. That means my 2017 won't need to be replaced. I like my 2017 but if / when they put a front locker in, I'll update!

Is the “auto” transmission totally new design or is it the same but with a minor mechanism to convert it to a auto

As far as I know it's all the same with an auto shift program added.

I have always thought it a mistake not to have some kind of bed (bigger/deeper than the optional Honda one), dumping or not. After decades of trying to keep stuff put on a hard steel rack, the bed was one of the nicest things about going from an ATV to a SxS.

....with locker..
500 ain't one of um....
on any brand...

After a year I think they got it right with the rear cargo rack. Like having the option of switching things up from different cargo boxes or hauling things flat. Only wish the transmission was as smooth as my Rancher 420 DCT.

I bought the P500 to avoid belt noise but the rear diff is stupidly load...such an awefull droning. I wish i could put my Foreman 500 diff in the P500. Love driving it but really annoyed at Honda...I keep expecting a bearing to let loose! Clunky shifting too.

The P500 is reliable , but incredibly unrefined.

...the rack..on the p5...keeps me there..

...but it leaves options..
