Since this is a Yamaha build thread I'll speak freely. Jackal is spot on with his descriptions. I've owned 2 Honda sxs and now an RMAX. It's a vast improvement over the vanilla Honda platform. You can spend thousands and it still won't equal what Yamaha has built.
Agreed 💯 % had 2 different Pioneer 1000 since Dec 2015 and 25 k miles on them & a P500 for 5 years as well.

It's just the sum of many little things that add up to a much nicer experience from an owner / rider perspective. The type and amount of insulation used on RMAX could easily be used on a P1K but they choose not to.

Honda has always provided reliable, decent performance to cost ratio. However people will pay for quality, give us what we want and we will pay the extra cost. Pioneer 1000 options are Like an F150 XL & XLT trim, but many would prefer the Lariat, Platinum or Limited levels even though it increases the cost of the same truck by $45k or 100% more than the basic version.

Honda had this problem with PE as well. Although you and I are willing to pay more for a superior machine, unfortunately the majority does not. Especially in different countries and continents. I assume Honda has had more success delivering a good product for a good price as opposed to the most expensive. Honda stopped selling lawn tractors in the USA in the late 90's. Sears and the box stores were out selling Honda 10-1.

So I ordered some machine specific nets for the RMAX4 from ducksnets.com they arrived today and install was a breeze. I've always used nets on my Pioneers as getting slapped with vegetation where I ride isn't fun. Also helps with keeping dog and grandkids parts inside away from harm, not to mention improved mud intrusion mitigation.

Also snagged the center storage bag while at it.

One month and 1000 miles all is well and very happy with machine.

1000 miles already. Do you deliver for Amazon?
You have priorities in line.
Best.
I'm retired (probably got retarded spell checked) , live 1 mile off closest trail head that covers 300k acres of immediate trail systems and guide 2-3 days a week (not using my machine).

So my last batch of accessories came in;
SSV roof mounted rear speakers
Yamaha glass windshield & wiper
Yamaha 28 gal storage box
Mud-Busters XL fender extensions
Mud-Busters Firewall block off kit.

The roof mounted speakers are plug and play with the OEM SSV radio, literally plugged right into existing harness under drivers seat. The Yamaha glass windshield with wiper and washer, will hold off until this fall to install.

28 gal cargo box is slick, replaced tailgate and attached in 5 minutes with 4 quick detach knobs.

All that's left is the soft upper doors and heater for winter use. 1500 miles so far no issues, very happy with the machine.

Next thing ya know ya will have the laser beam lights! Ha! You going to keep the fold down wind shield for summer use? That cargo box is really nice.
Yes on the fold down windshield for warm weather, I like the air movement and you don't notice the engine rpm with the windshield down.

The belt, Yamaha may have a 10yr belt warranty, that doesn't mean I can't mess it up, and I'm not walking. That said access to CVT is under drivers seat/ center tunnel area and doesn't look like a fun process to do in a shop, let alone out on the trails. Still I'm packing a spare belt and two tie rods just in case.

What's your feeling on cab noise compared to the P1k5? I'm finding ours to be so much quieter while going down the road and being able to have a conversation at 25mph whereas the RMAX that simply isn't possible. If I was to get another one I'd get a 2 seater so I could get max suspension travel and recline seats

Windshield off or down, about same noise due to wind. Windshield on noticeably louder on RMAX due to engine RPM with CVT echoing off windshield & roof.

Well here in East TN along with the pigmy scorpions 🦂 return, so has spider 🕸 season. If you haven't been to spider mountain near Gobey trails south west of the New River Train then you're just letting the best of creepy crawly get away. I know that @TripleB @Hondasxs @lee know exactly what I'm talking about.

Time for the glass windshield, side mirrors to go on.

I'm thinking about letting the MOM crew get some spider action this go around.
