Careful with 12” wheels rocks can get between the brake caliper and the wheel and punch a nice hole for ventilation.

It’s happening on Talons going from 15” to 14” wheels and it happened to the boss @Hondasxs himself many a moons ago.
I hear you, but can't a slightly larger rock get caught in a 14" wheel also?

Do you think its more of an issue with steel wheels or aluminum? Or does it matter....

Steel will dent but then what happens to the brake caliper? Although the 1000 BASE does come with 12” steel, are the front calipers different on the LE?

I have 30” LT tires that measure 30” on 15”bead lock MSA wheels. I run at 10 psi most of the time. Updated my fox shocks springs to the springs @GlockMeister has. I’ve had them since just before the takeover and have ridden trails totaling around 1,300 miles since, and rode in Colorado last week. I’ll say the ride quality was much better than My old 28” EFX motoclaws I had before. No real issues with power loss imo, not to mention the machine handles much better on the pavement. They have done well in rock climbing and exceptional in mud. Also good on rough sharp rock trails in the Black Hills this week. My wife says the ride is better than before. For what it’s worth, I’m sticking with them. But to each his own. Everyone has an opinion about tires and wheels. This was just mine with my experience so far ;)

If your willing to give up a half inch of clearance, I would strongly consider 27/9 and 27/11/12 ITP MudLite II. A very sturdy bias ply tire ( Bias Ply equals strong sidewalls and tire carcass, much more puncture resistant than radials) that is trail and mud capable.

I've had these before and they do well I liked them. I want something a little less open.

Well I finally got a nice lady on the phone at braven and she was kind enough to help me out. I ordered a set of 28x10x12 tires. Now I need to get my wheels ordered.

Ordered some STI beadlocks. Looks like they may be a little slow getting here but should be here before my next ride in October.
