NW entrance to Apache Trail at Goldfield Ghost town and mines. They have a decent CG especially considering the Lost Dutchman State Park was full. I was on the edge of exhaustion and I desperately needed a shower. It had been at least a week since my last one. LOL. I was supposed to meet up with my aunt and uncle today in Mesa Arizona but they begged off for one more day before I came and invaded their home.
I love old iron.

Today turned into a Charlie foxtrot after meeting with my uncle in Mesa Arizona. I want to find bill again somewhere around Sedona got lost and ended up near Flagstaff and I have had nothing but s*** luck trying to find camping let alone anything good to eat or a decent hotel that wasn’t too extremely expensive because it is snowing outside and because the local Walmarts all two of them do not allow RV camping overnight. I won’t be coming back to the s*** hole city anytime soon. Tomorrow I’m heading up towards Zion NP Utah. Sedona was pretty. Every single campsite and there are only campsites that you’re allowed to Camp in north of Sedona were all closed for the season.

Flagstaff is a college town in every sense. Had you been wearing your pink pu$$y hat or participating in a pride parade, I'm sure you would have been welcomed with open arms.

Not my favorite place. Only thing good about it is when you go through it, it means your getting closer to Utah.

Watch those gas stations near Mexican Hat if you go that way. My credit card # got stolen up there a few years ago.

I stayed at the Shathole Motel 6 in Flagstaff and got no sleep. So I left at 5:30 am and headed west. I’m about to meet a friend of mine for breakfast in Seligman Arizona and then I’m going to continue my journey west and then up towards Zion national Park or hopefully I’ll be staying for the next few days.

I’m actually going to stay at my buddies off grid property out here past Seligman Arizona near the Roadkill Café on Highway 66.
This will give me a chance to get re-organized and let some of this really nasty weather pass. Plus I only got about two hours asleep last night and I don’t feel like pushing myself today. And I get to hang out with my buddy and because he lives out the desert we’re going to go riding in my P5. Yippee! I’ll post some pictures after we go out and have some fun

Following my buddy on historic route 66 outs was off grid property it’s pretty cool because you can see all these signs were there like I don’t know they have like five or six in a row and then they end with Burma-Shave like the old products they used to sell in the 40s when route 66 was more well traveled before the interstate. It’s beautiful out here

That 1st section of 66 between Seligman and Yampai/Peach springs has to be one of the most boring sections of road. Flat and straight.

The grade out of Seligman (on both sides) was one of my favorite places to take pics of the trains on the transcon...

IMG 1675

...and the old townsite of Crookton to the east was one of the last rides i got to take in AZ. I knew this in advance, so it was bittersweet to go up and be looking at various other FS roads and thinking "I'll check that out next time"...and then reminding myself that there would be no next time.

I saw those trains running both directions this morning double stacked! But I was also driving through a blizzard with only two hours of sleep so I didn’t take any pictures. None of that anyway.

Today I found some cool rocks, petrified wood and what I believe to be some fossil remains. Pix will soon follow on the morrow. Maybe I’ll have a rock-fossil giveaway along the journey. I can put together a sort of guessing game or riddle and at the end of the trip the winner(s) gets the best finds. Last year I found the remains of two different late Cretaceous turtles. Including a tooth from each site. Along with the teeth I found rather telltale fossil bone fragments that determined that they were definitely turtles and because the area I was searching was once part of a inland coastal floodplain and ocean of where Colorado is today. I had also found many whole fish in form of fossilized vertebrae and scales. All of those fossils were found on private property. I also chose to leave many intact in the earth for other future fossil hunters to find. I have a pretty good eye for finding lost pieces of the past. Since you guys will be joining me on my journey, it will be my way of sharing the physical part of it with all of you. Or at least one of you. Pick a number between 1- 10,000. The one who either guesses the number or gets the closest will get the nicest find. The other folks that are runners up will receive some of the other nicer pieces. Unless it is many pounds I will cover the shipping to you anywhere in the continental United States. Take your time choosing and I will post up the pictures as I go. Please only choose once though. You do have a little bit of competition because I am posting this on Facebook as well. Or maybe I’ll run a separate contest for you guys and ladies here on the Forum.
