Haha. I didn't think they'd be riding the old equipment. Bob Hannah's YZ would be like riding a brick!I think the riders would be somewhat equal, the equipment....Not so much lol. 6" of travel vs 13+ lol.
The tracks RJ rode on were about the same as the tracks today. Though I never saw them mix in different types of dirt and sand.Have to remember back then the tracks were like trials tracks,Todays supercross takes a different individual with different talents.I ride with guys that make me sick on the track and lap me like Im a little girl on a scooter. But the same guys cant pick a line through the trees to save their arse.
On a supercross telecast last year (I think) they showed old footage of Ricky Johnson and Bob Hannah battling. They were literally trying to knock each other off their bikes. AMA today would've had a heart attack lol.The tracks RJ rode on were about the same as the tracks today. Though I never saw them mix in different types of dirt and sand.
Maybe some outdoor tracks But not Supercross tracks.........NO WAY....Hell since I raced 250 B And 250 A -tracks have got way sicker.and that was th e 90s.The woop sections alone would eat you alive.105 foot triples....Ricky Johnson would say"You guys are nutz".....But Same goes if you gave Eli T or Dungy an 85yz250 to ride and after the first qualifier he had to take his 490 out quick before the gate dropped....I remember watching Mike lorroco Run 125,250 and 500...That's amazing.....The tracks RJ rode on were about the same as the tracks today. Though I never saw them mix in different types of dirt and sand.
I agree. I don't really have a favorite in the 250 class so I'm fairly objective. Getting last gate pick really hurt him too. Got tangled up on first lap.seems like its who they mess with that decides
I kept hoping James will make another comeback. I truly believe he is still championship capable. He just has a serious confidence problem. When he rode a Yami sponsored by that native American casino, he was unstoppable.I'm like you, I watch the 250 class but don't really have a rider I root for. The last lites riders that I can remember being awesome to watch because of their total dominance were James Stewart and then Ricky Carmichael before him. There were two guys that could absolutely shred on a 125. I remember watching Ricky win Southwick by well over 30 seconds (maybe more) and Stewart launching jumps that guys wouldn't even try on the big bikes. Haven't seen a rider like that for awhile!
I root for Team Red.I agree. I don't really have a favorite in the 250 class so I'm fairly objective. Getting last gate pick really hurt him too. Got tangled up on first lap.
I tape the races and usually fast forward through the 250s but after I read you guys last couple posts, watched last weeks Pontiac race again. And that was one hell of a 250 race.I agree. I don't really have a favorite in the 250 class so I'm fairly objective. Getting last gate pick really hurt him too. Got tangled up on first lap.
