Engine sputters, feels like it’s dropping a cylinder

While riding the HP1K5 on the track at DurhamTown, it started acting up. It felt like it was dropping a cylinder, or possibly something with the throttle position sensor. We (@knuckledeep ) hooked a scanner to it and the #2 injector had a code, so I’m thinking it could possibly be the injector wire?
It wound up happening again, but it felt like a carbureted engine when you intentionally choke it to make it sputter then it’d pick back up when I mash the gas pedal. It mostly acted up while trying to maintain any speed.

I’m gonna start by changing my spark plugs and go from there. Any suggestions or has anyone had a similar or an exact experience?

Pick up a set of the upgraded injector harness wire from the club store and sounds like that should fix it up. Some of them are know for that.

What year, how many miles?

I think you and JenElio nailed it with the injector wiring. Plug reading might confirm the #2 cylinder.

Try unplugging injector to see if anything changes while in limp. Keep us posted on what you find out. Got to get you going before our ride coming up. Most of the broken injector wires that I've seen shows where they were pinched. Does it have full coverage? 🔥 lol j/k Polaris joke!

It does! But I’d rather not have to use that if at all possible! I will dive into it later this week.

Usually when the injector plug fails, the engine will die.
If injector plugs and spark plugs do not fix it.
Try fresh fuel.
If no change, it may the the computer, a have seen a few now that the injector circuit/driver has failed.

Had the same issues as you. Was at 2k miles tho and again @3k miles. Changed the plugs and☝🏻
Ive said it before in other threads and I know it gets tiresome, Iridium plugs are a good plug, but when they go internally or get the slightest fouling they take up the ghost quick and make a motor run like $hit. Intermittent ignition, then too much fuel in the cylinder and 💥 they get hot and run good for a bit then 🐒💨💩 again! Not a guarantee fix in some cases.
Hope this is your issue and a quick fix.
Good luck! You got the right man @knuckledeep on it to narrow it down. Just be patient and cross off the easy stuff first.

when we took it for a drive it felt kind of like a plug going bad not a full missfire like when mine went bad but it could be very weak plugs are the easiest and cheapest to change next I would look at the injector pigtails. it is possable to be a frayed wire or broken wire not easily seen2nd easies fix. 3rd could be a bad coil knowing this bike can be a boat every once and a while. after we cleared the code for number 2 cylinder injector the engine light didn't come back on would lead me to think plugs

its never the coil - don't overthink this - u are on the right track

Without changing the spark plugs,
I was able to remove the seat back and heat shield this evening, and just a quick visual with the engine off, everything looked to be intact. After running the engine for a few minutes to about 1 bar on the temp gauge, I started poking around the injector wires, the front injector wire seems to be good, but when I touched the rear injector wire the engine sputtered like before. I’ll replace the plugs with the fuel injector plug kits and retest.

Thats a good start.
If its the injector wire and the way that bugger misses Im willing to bet that plug is fouled all to hell cuz of it. See it all the time on Generators I work on every day. $hitty ignition causes plugs to foul. Your on the right track
