I have heard that crap for 20 yrs. Might have been so 20 yrs ago, but not anymore. I have heard 22-24mpg on 3500 4X4 CC ...... BS. Maaaaaaaybe could get 20mpg out of mine ('17) on interstate at 55mph, no A/C, with good tail wind! Who drives 55 on interstate??? High side at 75mph is less than 16 .... REAL numbers, not computer BS. Pulling a loaded trailer 7-8 at 75mph, maybe 8.5-9 at 65mph. '02 and '08 Duramax did just as good comparatively. '17 3500 Laramie in NON delete.

Yea.. I believe that. I rarely drive my Ford without my trailer, so I'm not certain what it'd do empty on the hwy.
With my 8.5 X 20 (+6" height) cargo trailer loaded with the Pioneer, running 78mph, it gets about 9mpg. Back that off to 72 or so, & it's 10. Around town empty, it pulls down around 14 or so.

My ‘12 F250 6.7l 4x4 CC regularly laid down 21 mpg running empty...BUT it had 3.31 gearing and highway tires.

I traded it off on my new 16 F350 6.7l 4x4 CC Fx4 last October and drove 6 hrs to get one of the last good Superdutys on the lot. This one will muster 17 mpg on a good day empty, but pulls my camper with more authority ( +50hp, lower gears, and exhaust brake vs the ‘12) and doesn’t hunt for gear as much.

To be honest, even though I like Ford in the past, I can’t stand the looks or build quality provided by the current crop of garbage from Ford in any of their pickups....imo. Good solid motor and tranny wrapped in crappy wrapper. Reminds me of the 06 Dodge CTD Megacab I used to have.

If I had to by a new truck today, I’d be in the Ram or GM dealership lot as it still has some semblance of being a mans truck.

How many TOTALLY different diesel engines has Ford come up with in the past 25 yrs? The old 7.3 International was bulletproof. The rest of them ....... not so much.
The answer is...just one! The 6.7 is the only diesel ford offered that they designed and built. The 7.3, 6.0, and 6.4 are all international motors. The way I see it, International made the 7.3 for Ford, it was durable, simple, and powerful for its time. Then the damn government decided to impose emissions regulations so ford needed a new motor to pass. In came the 6.0 and soon after, it’s terrible reputation which I’m not sure it deserved. But because of the terrible reputation and even more stringent emissions regulations ford needed yet another motor. In came the 6.4. It had good power, terrible mileage, and probably an even worse reputation than the 6.0. Multiple times I’ve heard the 6.4 referred to as a “throwaway engine” after 150,000 miles... pathetic. Ford knew they couldn’t withstand another disappointing Diesel engine from International so they took matters into their own hands and designed an engine they could be proud of. In came the 6.7. Everyone that has one loves it.

All that being said, I think any of the big three make awesome trucks now and you’ll be happy with either Chevy or ford (or Ram although it’s not on your list). The big difference between the two is the ifs vs. the solid front axle. I always leaned toward the solid axle for strength and durability

Well NO, the answer is FOUR. I did not mention anything about Ford built and designed, but rather "came up with" ....... 'in their truck' is implied. Since it was their choice to put they 6.0 and 6.4 in their trucks, they "came up with" them ...... lol

Both ya’ll forgot the first diesel Ford used, naturally aspirated 6.9 International.

I’m still a Ford fan. I’ve had 4 F250’s that have gone over 250,000 miles and still running like new when I sold them.

Bought a new 2017 F350 King Ranch about 9 weeks ago, already have over 10,000 miles on it. Gave the 2003 F250 6.0 with 300,000 miles on it to my son. If you take care of’em they will do 500,000 or more.

Totally impressed with the new 6.7 F350. Rides way better than I expected and empty mileage is 18 + mpg. Expect it will get better as it breaks in.

Thanks guys. Dad has a 94 12v 3500. Cummins has been good but everything else sucks. Not a huge fan of the looks of the dodge and the interior and electrical has had problems in the past. This will be a daily driver. Just need more capacity if im hauling a skid steer, tractor, possible toyhauler in the future. I think the gmc would probably be the best for what i need but i really do like the extra features and look of the ford. Guess i will do some more test driving next week. Hardly any f250's and a lot of 2500's at dealers around here. 65, 2500's and 4 f250's in my town dealer. Dont think i found a ford dealer in 100 miles with more than 10 on stock.

That's cause they can't keep a ford on the lot, they sell so damn fast.

Lol ..... comparing a 94 to an 18 is like comparing apples to oranges. Take a ride in a new Ram to see the difference.

Or ford gave a major contract for dash beam casting to a flaky company that burned to the ground early this year.
It will be a year before the magnesium casting industry gets back to normal trying to absorb the capacity needed to supply the f-series trucks.

Living in the land of the big 3, I know several people that work for all of them. Also know people working at factories that supply parts to all of them. You hear lots of stories about how they operate and based on those I would never buy a Dodge. The word is their shops are a mess and they're working in squalor all the time. If you can't keep your work area clean, what quality of product is rolling off the line?
Have also heard stories of GM and Ford sending back skids full of parts to suppliers because they weren't good enough. FWIW.

I have a 2017 Silverado 2500HD 4x4 Duramax. If you are a veteran ask dealer for veteran's discount. Mine was $1.5K off. Have just over 22,000 miles towing most of the time. Can't beat unlimited power at 15 mpg pulling 26 ft toyhauler with Honda 1000-3, 100 gallons of water and 35 gallons of gas. Just driving around town it gets 17 mpg. Open road, 20+ mpg. Hasn't missed a beat. As for Ford diesel, ask someone who needed to have the cab removed to service the fuel pump. In this day and age who the hell designs a truck that you have to pull the cab off the truck to work on it ????????? Ford should have their nuts cut off for that design blunder.
