I have seen your fenders and I think they are awesome...please don't let us use zip ties like the pre mentioned flaps and let's go lower and cover the overspray from behind...after owning the RZR 800 and now the Pioneer 500 I still haven't figured out why R&D for these companies haven't gotten this figured out...I have yet to see a good side x side have this done...perhaps they need people that actually ride????

Here is my solution for rear fenders -
Flexy Flares Side Mount Rubber Fender Extensions 2.25"
and HDPE for front (in the production)

Linked some pix to what I did, UHMW 3mm thick material, very strong stuff. Have since pix added some rubber flap material to extend lower down, like 4" or so. The idea is the rubber flap will tear off if I get messed up and have to back up while stuck on something and rather than ripping off the whole fender extender, just the rubber flap gets mashed. Used cardboard as a template then transferred over once happy with shape. Attached with stock Honda push pins, stock headlight bolt and added one to existing sub frame bolt. So far has worked well and iirc 54" or so wide. Rear flaps are held on with a plug, made from UHMW, bolted to the flap then inserted (plug) into square sub frame tube, had to discard G tank guard on rear, was a bit of a gimmick anyways. To hold the plug inside the frame tube I drill a self tapping scew into frame/plug.

Hi guys,

We'll be starting fabrication on the P500 fender flares within the next couple months. Those of you with aftermarket wheels and/or lifts, please let us know how much additional coverage you need! Also, we have yet to locate a Pioneer 500 in the Phoenix area. If any of you have one and are willing to let us borrow it for a week, please let us know!

Any progress? I really need some flares!!!!

I believe the extra coverage that will be needed with most of the aftermarket rims and tires we have would be anywere from 2.5 to 3inchs of extra coverage your to far for me to loan my p500 im from new York sorry

Finalized front fenders using High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) Width 12 In., Length 48 In., Thickness 0.125 In.

Bought on Ebay , found also in walmart 1ZAX3 Sheet Stck, 12 In. W, 48 In. L, 0.125 In. T - Walmart.com

Had to weld two U bolts to create a mount point at the top, the rest 3 u bolts from no welding required. I think I made them a bit wide, like a an inch wider then tires, will test and might need some trimming.

That's very nice work solrus, I can see that that will keep the mud off of you but man those look vulnerable out there! Down here in these jungle like forests we ride with wild grape, saw briar vines thick under brush and trails where my stock set up slides against tree trunks as it is, I'd have them ripped off in no time. Thankfully I don't ride much mud so I haven't the need but I can sure see how those would keep mud off your face. Good job!

I am interested in making some for my P500. I have 1" spacers with 26" bighorn 2's, and would like to add about 2" to each side fender. I do have a few questions:

- Will the flexy flares work on the front? or the HDPE gives much better coverage at a lower price?
- Just bolt thru or rivet the flexy to the rear fenders?
- What is the right type of blade for cutting the HDPE?

Thx in advance.

I looked into doing flexy on the front, but was not happy how they cover doors from splashes and how sturdy they will be. U can try, I have spare flexy guards from doing rear fenders .

- either way, I just liked rivets for rear fenders.

- no specific blade, I used same as for uhmw plastic when I did skid plate. Do have saw at my place now. But try to YouTube uhmw cutting with table saw. They have type of blade that would not burn and cut fine plastic. I would medium teeth length.

I cut vinyl siding by putting the blade in backward in a circular saw. Just can't go too fast or you'll melt it.
Don't know if that will work in this application.
