Curious if the guys with the 700’s ever saw the show on how they fire by themselves. They even had a sniper shoot, load another shell, and take his hands right off the gun, and then, bang, all by itself.
I had a young guy hunting with me and he had a 700, I made him always be in front. :)
I have a JCHiggens , older, 30.06 ,with a 40 mm scope. Usually 150g.
It’s dead on.
A lot of deer have met their end by that rifle.

I'm a little different:

Browning BLR (lever) in 7-.08, topped with Leupold VX3 (2.5-8x36) for the fields . . . Federal Premium 140g Nosler Partition (an EXCELLENT bullet)
CZ 527 Carbine (bolt) in 7.62x39 topped with Leupold VX-R (1.25-4x20) for the woods . . . Hornady 123g SST
Parker Tornado F4 crossbow shooting Red Hots tipped with G5 Montecs (fixed blade) . . . LOVE this xbow

Happy Hunting!!

My favorite deer rifle is a Ruger #1 in 25/06 with a 3-15x50 Minox scope on it. I've also got a Tikka T-3 in 25/06 with a Zeiss 3-9x40 on it that is one slick rifle, my son has laid claim to it. My wet weather rifle is a Thompson Center Encore Pro Hunter, 25/06, with a Minox 3-15x42 scope. It's got a 26" semi-bull barrel on it and is probably the tightest grouping rifle I own. For Colorado elk I carry a Ruger 77 in 300 Win Mag. with a Minox 3-15X42, this rifle is an old Paddle Stock model 77.

Depending on what tickles my fancy at the time, I use a Savage Axis II .270 (130 gr SP) with a Leupold VX-R 4-12x44 set on 4 power, K98 8mm Mauser (196 gr SPCE) I cut down to 16.5" in a Ramline stock and topped with a Burris 2 3/4 power pistol scope (a scout rifle before they were a thing), or my good ol' Marlin 336 30-30 (Leverevolution ammo). I'll be taking my new 6.5 Grendel to the field next.

I have used a Sako .308 to take many deer but I have several other excellent rifles to choose from. Living in a Free State I prefer to shot suppressed now days, I'd like to keep my hearing.

I’ve got a Remington 700 .270 Win Short Mag with a 3x9 scope. Good for deer, elk, and one of these days hopefully, moose. Ammo is kinda pricey, and I can’t get it everywhere, but it’s a strong caliber, and it gets the job done every time.

Got a 40yo 30-06 I’ve killed many a deer with out to 300yards over the last 33years, I call her Lucile.

For plinking I have a RPR in 6.5CM, it’s a tack driver at 300, I can consistently get sub 1” 10 shot groups that close in.

This is a 17” black and I was working my way down with scope adjustments at 1000yds to get numbers to try for some longer shots.

The lower left hole was a buddy with his 30-06 GUESSING at 1000yds, it was his first and only shot. He is a MUCH better shot than I am.
