I know most folks really like those special made small cans that securely attaches to racks, but I do not have one of those custom racks. Been trying to figure out best(spill proof/strong/secure) gas can to use on Coalmont camping ride. Finally settled on this LEGIT NATO gas can, not a cheap walmart or Amazon/Chineese copy. Comes with the spout that allows 100% free flow without any 'gurgles' or leaks. Time will tell if the lid gasket really works! Edit ..... been turn over MANY times, never has leaked a single drop!! Bought via Campingmaxx ..... 12c195c848fa94d080f83eb70774639c97b0298784872504390c65eddf41249b0cf2c14e0ad78373dce0f23061178bfe80d68e2b0d9bb36f35e7bd8f8ab29fd53f7a91f9b363376cf0ac0020c3547a067caafc6b77035e522ffdbd332fa0c9048bb9bf1842c3ee988885ca23ad7d5a20

What a butte.....stand behind it when opening or you're going to have a face full of gasoline. Ask @Kilo427

I have about 8 of those. If it is the Wavian or similar, they will not leak if the gaskets are good.

If you can find a Swiss issue nozzle (from a Pinzgauer or Unimog, snag it. They are vented which makes pouring nice and they have a removable / cleanable debris screen.

I built a rack to hold two of these cans in the back of my old P1K-5 that used the screw / bolt holes in the bed floor as attachment points.

True story there is a method to opening those cans, if you fill them and it is cooler outside then it warms up remember when you open it, it will expel the pressure and gasoline some what force fully. So do not fill the gas all the way to the top, stand behind the fuel can and flip the latch so it will spray away from you or you can place a rag on top and reduce the spray.

The first time I used those style of cans I had it full to the top and it was sitting on a trailer in the sun. I stood in front of the can and opened it and was literally sprayed head to toe in fuel while smoking a cigarette. I have since bought about 20 or 30 more of the cans and they work well and generally never leak just be cautious. These nozzles have worked well for me and the cans on that website are also really good.

I've looked at those they have it at harbor freight think they were $60 a piece. Only problem with metal is they can sweat inside if not completely full, just like my old Honda atvs with metal tanks.

Wish I had read this an hour ago .... filled it to the brim! I will stand behind it and TRY to vent it slowly.

Had one of those metal ones on an old FJ40. BA looking can. Best thing is it doesn’t have all that new EPA safety crap that takes forever to fill, and empty.
