P1000 Having some engine rattle

Bent rod for anybody interested.

This guy opted to just replace the 1 rod only, I believe it was the rear cylinder.

We installed a new rod and piston and haven't seen him back yet. Apparently he'd gotten it pretty cheap at auction.

These are both side, they seem to be fine unless I take them out completely and check

I took off oil pan and I see a lot of metal shavings some thin metal and some look like thin wire

Definitely looks like some bearing material or maybe even piston pieces.
Is any of it magnetic.

Well it's not piston then, I would think if it was bearing, you'd get a worse noise.

Could be a gear then maybe?
Idk I might start taking it completely apart this weekend to see what is wrong or what looks wore down

Best bet is to pull the motor out and go through it.

Well I think I found the issue, I moved the rod and one was moving more than the other one. There was no bearing inside and the bearing inserts have a lot wear

Going to need a new crank and rod. Defiantly pull the motor and fully disassemble, check and clean. There had to be an oil pressure problem at some point. Need to check the pump gears, pickup, etc... Also with no bearing, the oil pressure throughout the motor would have been really low so there is probably wear in other areas from that.
