Stopped by my dealer today and ordered this kit and a pair of front fox shocks. Looking forward to more miles of fun

This is basically the 17 model fix fir the 16 but with a rubber sheild which doesnt include the hole for the sub-trans oil check. It also includes some thinner pads under the little panel behind the seat and a seat- like pad for the middle passenger between the upper and lower seat pad. Will be offered to any new 16 or 17 sale and previously purchasd 16 or 16 models. Dealer has to show that the customer has been notified before selling the unit. These do have a warranry claim template number so itll be free. Dont pay for this, the dealer is getting paid to install. Not sure how many of them will be available, it almost appears like Honda wont ship any to cover dealer inventory unless there is a verifiable sales deal. Usually on updates or recalls they ship enough to cover our in stock inventory, looks like a per case basis here.

It would be nice to get the heat issue addressed with an OEM fix, but I'm going to stand by and let this install a lot of them before I take my machine in for any modification.

Re: Heat service bulletin, I just set it up with my dealer in Raleigh, NC. I had to give them the bulletin number, but they're ordering the parts and they say I'll be their first. Thanks for the info. Now I just have to figure out if I wanna use the DEI heat shield AND the Honda-issued seals together, since I've got the DEI kit in the box, in the garage!

I wonder if Honda will let me snag one of these from my dealer and install it myself. There are some (not all) of the guys in my dealer's service department that I wouldn't even trust to work on a garden hose.

The center seat pad is sweet, maybe a little thin and small but definitely essential mod when every my wife would ride beside me we would wad up sweater or something to keep her but off of the hard plastic.
Going to stop in a the dealer tomorrow.

Glad to se Honda FINALLY stepping up and doing what they used to do before they released a new vehicle to market....... test it themselves and fix it before it hit the public. Calling my dealer tomorrow.

How about the heat issue at the right passenger floorboard ? Guess Honda hasn't recognized the "comfort" issue of the right rear passenger.

The DEI kit I put on addressed that issue. We'll see about Honda's fix.

Our 2017 1000-5 LE came with the rubber under the seat and I will tell you, it still gets quite toaste. My wife was even commenting how hot it was in the front seat. We do have the windshield and roof. I will more than likely install a heat shield of sorts eventually, but we are entering the cooler season, and it might feel pretty decent.

I put in a formal complaint....I would like the pad and the weatherseals. I have installed shield and fan and have no complaints about heat whatsoever!

I also have an LE. I think the rubber peiece is a little different than the one we have.
