Finally got out today, still barely any snow, very odd for up here in northern ontario, usually a good couple feet by now and still at just a couple inches, anyways for the tracks the loss in speed is noticeable, it sure doesnt lack power though, everywhere we brought it it didnt hesitate, i still need to do a bit of modification to the front antirotation brackets to be able to adjust them properly since if you recall i modified an existing kit i had, all in all very pleased and cant wait for more snow

Holy crap that's a ton of surface area! I bet that would get you through more powder than any other track kit on the market. Very impressive.

For my situation I could never use skis in the front (if I could I would be using snowmobiles). The non plowed road to my cabin gains almost 2000 ft elevation. Often times it is muddy/rocky at the bottom and I'm into 2 ft of snow before reaching the cabin. This requires a fully tracked vehicle.

That said, even without diff lock 4 tracks will far outperform 2 based on what I've seen.
It’s that time of year to think about tracks again...can you tell me more about your experience? Noise level? Excessive snow spray into the cab? Practical useable speed expectations? Is p/s essential? And, is there noticeable wear on the P500 as a result? Thanks...much appreciated!

How do these tracks work if the trail intermittently turns to mud and dirt/rock here and there? Is continuous snow an absolute requirement or will there be damage to the tracks??

Tracks will typically handle anything but the wear life depends on the surface they are in contact with. I wouldn’t want to run tracks full time, instead of one bearing assembly you would have 5 to 8 to worry about.

Looks good. I like the ground clearance. How is it handling in the snow? Pros/Cons?
Its excellent in the snow, great floatation. Just don’t compare it to a snowmobile for speed and agility. Steering is pretty hard, a very harsh ride on anything hard packed. It pulls like a mule! I will likely order the soft doors cuz you get buried inside the cab with snow that is flung up from the tracks. The motor area, entire front end etc gets blasted with snow. Some of it melts and forms ice blocks. So, its very capable at slower speeds but you have to put up with some inconveniences and take 20 minutes after riding in anything more than 4 inches of snow to do a lot of cleaning before parking it. Unless you always keep it in a warm place. (I brought it into the shop to melt and dry out...ended up with a frozen gas line as a result. Keep gas line antifreeze withyou!)

The Kimpex Tracks that I use are very tough and made for all year conditions like mud, rocks, bush trails and sand etc. They don’t need lubrication like snowmobile sliders. I bought the Kimpex because you can replace individual bearings if needed.

I bought the Kimpex because you can replace individual bearings if needed and with proper adjustment, they dont rub on the frame in the front thus allowing full range of steering. Most other brands come with a steering limiter kit, not needed. I also bought a cheap tractor type steering knob...definitely helps the steering. [ /QUOTE]

I’m going to attempt making some sort of fender flares that come out as far as the tracks...this would direct most of the snow spray down from the cab. Looking for ideas as to some sort of flexible but ridged plastic rated for cold Canadian winters!
