I can be there in about an hour. I've been there twice this summer. Would like to go more.

I got to spend a few hours in the garage today working on the roof. I got the back half marked and cut to size. I went ahead and drilled and clamped it. I ended up using the circular saw for everything. D7535541558b1d736e3c1bf99729bb7f86da3eb00a9fc2acd806837d27207806

Then i did the front. I let it lay on top and overlap the back about 4". This was enough to accommodate my clamps off the back of the center bar and the big flat washers I was using on top.14e3b7401c869ac82c8228c87b574a95

Then for the grand finale.....

I wanted to bend the front down for a visor. C-clamped a 2x4 to the front and went to work with the heat gun. I did some testing on a scrap piece and thought it would just bend with the weight of the 2x4 with a little heat. It wasn't quite that easy. When I got it close, I clamped it to the cage and left it for tonight. I think I will be able to put the rest of the P-clamps on tomorrow.356e4a6eb1593a5e4adbf00e56d0de3cE2120b75c793ec3526d2233f8cda2ae14af06ac8d72fc2f88065f0e160455384

I do have to take the front off and shorten it about 6" it hangs down too far. I also have to put a little foam between it and the cage in a few spots. I'm thinking about some kind of rain gutter across the front. Wife suggested spray painting a piece of vinyl J-channel black and pop riveting or bolting it across the front edge to keep water from running into our laps. I kind of like that idea. You guys have any others? I will also have to put a few pop rivets or bolts and where the pieces overlap between the clamp bolts.

I got the roof finished today. It comes down about 5-6 inches on the front. I decided I needed something stiff across the front so I bought a piece of aluminum angle and a piece of aluminum flat bar. I sandwiched the ABS between the angle and flat bar and put a few bolts through it. I put a p-clamp on each end to hold it to the cage. The aluminum angle should serve as a pretty good rain gutter on the front too. I'm pretty proud of it. When it was all said and done, I have about 8 hours and $175 in it.

I haven't posted in a while. I told you this would be excruciatingly slow..... I decided to save some money on a roof and make my own. I decided on 1/8" ABS. I maybe should have gotten thicker, but I went with this yo keep the weight down. I had to buy 2, 4'x8' sheets yo cover it. I ordered 20, rubber lined, stainless "p" clamps off Amazon. I just have to pick up bolts and washers now. I cut it down to manageable sizes with my circular saw. Going to make final cuts with table saw. I'm planning to roll the front over 4"-6" for a visor. I will probably put some of the foam tape like goes under a truck topper between it and the cage and put rubber door edge trim around the edges. I may have to put a support back the center to keep it from drooping slightly, not sure yet. Hope it turns out good and lasts a while. I will have under $150 in it......View attachment 53459View attachment 53460View attachment 53461

Swapped out my old roller fairlead for a Hawse fairlead since I switched to synthetic rope on my winch. Used the old Rural King 11,000lb D-rings for tow points. Backed them with 2"×5" pieces of 1/4" flat bar.6897c8b4895ffa9c9a77bc702510237bF9e48fc9bf885c3ebad168c8736a40014caf13c71f6cb82e5f74183ea04a908159c1ca26f5eefee3b11d2fb1813245bf064e5a4809c84e0564a863923e88511237dcc8ae3ac510137b8616df715cc35a

Got the long bolts on the front of the roof cut off and added cap nuts to those and all the ones across the front. 24a3f76d186e032cbf750a3b14a8ac5eA5c43b6413622ee143f9f3d9909ec825

Another small mod. Replaced my center front roof bolt with a slightly larger and longer one. Made a great GoPro mount.

Roof looks good. What’s your plan for a windshield? That visor would look great on a 5” or so choptop

Thanks. Not sure about a windshield. I would like one for when it's cold. If I could bend the lexan, I would make my own. I found a place online that will make a fold down one to my specified height. That way it will work with my top. I may go with one of theirs.

At some point I plan to chop the cage. Not sure when I will get around to it though.
