No way i would buy the 1000 now. The 700 does the job and has been problem free. You got the money now, so you should have it later. The vaule of the 700 will not be much less next year. I would wait a year and see if Honda gets things together.

Thanks for the responses. I just changed the oil and other than needing rear tires she is in good shape. I thought dct would be great but the 3 speed in the 700 has proven itself. I plan to wait a little longer and see if things settle out.

Honda's unwillingness to provide any statement on the clutch and computer/ground issues would give me reason to pause if I was you. I would wait until the QC and design issues are worked out, or at least until Honda explains what is going on.
Has Honda still not formally addressed this situation? Polaris gets shredded here for doing that!

Lol @ honda clutches burning up. Sucks to have such a big money thing break so easily. Makes my love my belt that much more. 1300 hard miles on a stock belt and 30s. And when when I need one it takes less than 30 min and 125 bucks to change :)

Yes, I am looking for excuses to buy one. I am conservative, even though I have the money and can get a good deal I need to justify the expense. My 700 without power steering is not a problem for my wife so I can't use that. She also speeds around the farm so I don't need more power. I like the green of mine better than the red, white or orange of the 1000 and 900 bucks for camo is ridiculous. I will find some reason to buy one though because I like them.
Problem for wife, theres your reason, we all do whats best for the misses, Dugh HA.

I've got a p700-4 in my garage right now trying to get it back running normal again. It's sitting right next to my sportsman 850.

dang man, that 700 looks like it got a little damp!lol
Yea luckily only thing is the instrument panel got wet and wouldn't work and the front diff is filled with water. I tool the computer out and out a fan on it and it started working. I then put it back together and sealed it all up with some rtv sealer. Hopefully that keeps it dry. Other than that still trying to get all the traces of water out of the diff but she's all good.

Yea I guess, he's lucky the motor didn't take on water. I had a Rincon 680 in 06 that took on water with 600 miles and it never moved again. That's the downfall of having a transmission like that. It's very critical to keep it dry and on an atv that's sometimes hard.
