Also - I only went into detail about the bands that these radios cover because there are radios that are marketed as ham radios and their ability to transmit are locked to specific Amature radio allocated Freq only. If you were to buy one of these you would be locked out of a lot of the frequencies people on here use.

Idealy to cover FMRS and GMRS you want to make sure you can transmit on UHF in the freq range of 462.5625 to 462.725 megahertz.
I believe marine radios are VHF and MURS is also VHF Range

Ordered a Radio from a guy on facebook that a lot of people seem to get theirs from. Its a motorola CM300 2 way radio. Supposed to come already setup. Also sends the coax cut to length and antenna. debated about doing a handheld, but hard to resist the power of the bigger ones. No idea how im gonna mount it yet though. I know the antenna should go on the roof, But it wont fit there and go in my garage.

There’s a couple of net mounting points on the rear that are probably free

All my net mounting points are free. Just gotta figure out how and where to put it. Definitely want it on the back so I don’t rip it off

Here's my install.
5x5 16 ga. aluminum backing plate on top. Applied a layer of elastomeric tape between the top and plate. Going to spray the plate with Flexseal type material after completed. 20180205 125224 20180205 120934 20180205 120926

I took @Windrock1000 temp antenna placement as inspiration and believe I have my antenna where I want it now. I am hanging it upside down just inside the rear drivers side. The antenna I am using is a comet SSB1nmo - it is more expensive than the amazon prime version but it is also flexiable which I think can be a +. Will if function better? After installing I put the measured the SWR and was running 1.4:1 over VHF and a little better on UHF so I am happy with that. Antenna is just installed so I will clean up the wiring before installing the radio this week.

Also @Windrock1000 my radio is not displaying Chinese - I am still unable to find the setting for you to change but looking.

Chirp does not currently support this radio so we are using their version - but I will do that and send the file over for the current program.

Send me your image file

Here’s the image file I pulled from my radio.
It’s for a B-Tech 25x4

Dropbox - BTECH_UV-25X2_20180205.img

It has all the FRS/GMRS/MURS/NOAA channels.

Along with my presets.

Honda 1-4 is open channel
1-2 being VHF 3-4 being UHF

HONDA A-D is sqlTone so only radios with those channels preset will open the squelch on the radio.
A-B VHF, C-D UHF

101 up are the repeaters within 20miles of Lafollette, TN

ignore 70-99 those are local repeaters.

BUT You can download your radios program into the Chirp program.
Then open this file and copy all the channels over to your radio image file and then upload that edited file back to your radio.
